UPES Dehradun | B.Com Admissions 2025
Apply#41 in NIRF | 50 LPA Highest CTC, Ranked #9 in India by QS University Rankings
Hey aspirant
Yes, there is a significant difference. When compared to a diploma, obtaining an MBA degree provides the individual with a little more value.
The MBA qualifies the individual for a master's degree, whereas the PGDM qualifies the individual for a diploma. But that has nothing to do with students' industrial success or the difference in knowledge imparted in institutes!
All the best
And there isn't much of a difference in terms of getting a job. Securing a placement with a top company in the industry should be a piece of cake if the individual is a graduate of a reputable business school in India.
Hi Karthick,
After B.com both MBA/PGPM or M.com are equally good, it depends on your interest that what you wish to do in future.
If you wish to go for corporate jobs in the areas of marketing, finance, HR, operations etc then you should go for MBA as companies prefer MBA over M.com.
However, if you wish to go in the areas of research, do a Ph.D. or go into lectureship then you can opt for M.com. It doesn't mean that someone with an M.Com can't land up in a corporate job, but they are less preferred over MBA's.
Hope it helps. You can reach out to us for any further assistance.
Good Luck!

Hello Rishi,
BOth college are new and backed by two well known brand i.e. IMT & GLIM.You should choose on factors such as placements, faculty, fee, batch size, alumni network and recognization.
GLIM :(It is a 1 year program and requires 2 yrs experience)
Fee : 14,84,000 lac(including hostel,mess and etc)
Placement: Avg 11.14 lac ctc Highest !8 lac ctc
Batch size : 60 seats
IMT Nagpur : (2 years course freshers can also apply)
Fee : 12,10,000 (Including hostel mess and etc)
Placements : Avg 7.5 lac Highest 12.5 lac
Batch Size : 250 to 300 seats
As we consider above statistics I will suggest you to take GLIM Gurgoan PGPM as batch size is small,Return on investment is high.If batch size is too big then it become difficult to place all students on zer placement day.So choose wisely considering above facts.
Hope I cleared your doubt. All the best for future endeavor

Hope this answers your query, feel free to ask for more info.
Hi Rohit, congratulations on your CAT score. It is indeed a very good score in this exam. Generally there are two parts for applying:
1) IIMs
2) Non-IIMs
For IIMs, you dont have to apply separately and all. By the score and profile, the IIMs send out calls to the aspirants for the next subsequent rounds.
Whereas for Non-IIMs you need to apply separately for each and every college by logging on their official Website and filling up the application forms. They would shortlist based on the various criterias.
After that you need to attend the GD round and then PI rounds of various colleges you get call from. Some colleges even have Written Ability Test also. You would be judged on various parameters in these rounds, wherein you need to perform well.
They give an overall score to GD-PI-WAT performances and also the CAT score and weightages are provided as per the management decision, and based on the overall scores, one gets admission for MBA Programmes.
Generally work experience plays an added advantage along with the academic scores as well. Some colleges dont give importance to academics. Some colleges dont give importance to work experience and some dont give weightage to both parameters. But it always gives an edge over other students while shortlisting.
I will tell some of the colleges you can expect a call from are,
1) IIM Lucknow
2) IIM Calicut
3) IIM Bangalore
4) New IIMs like Trichy, Vishakapathnam
5) Newer IIMs like Jammu and Kashmir
I will provide you our pathfinder, where in you can a lot of details and various top colleges for this score,

Hi Kushal, thanks for contacting Careers360. Definitely IBS is one of the top colleges with respect to faculty management as well as placement wise. It provides good placement package for marketing field. IBS Hyderabad is the top of all the IBS colleges and IBS mumbai comes second to it. And coming to the second question, Post Graduate Programme in Management is an one year course mainly aimed at aspirants who are looking to go to next level in their career, or looking to run after their family business or entrepreneurs who are highly skilled. It is an one year course and is also high cost compared to MBA. Whereas MBA is a two year full course for freshers as well as those who have a less exposure to industrial work experience and those who aspire to get into a higher exposure side from beginning. It is low cost studies compared to PGPM and the placement is also relatively less compared to PGPM. For enrolling into IBS, one has to clear IBSAT in order to acquire admissions.
