Pondicherry University Community College or PUCC was established in the year 1995 in Lawspet, Puducherry and is a constituent college of Pondicherry University. Located on a small plot of 1.4046 acres, PUCC is now producing 44 choices across eight undergraduate programmes. The college has on average a student enrolment of 998 and is headed by 13 members of the faculty. Being a co-educational institution, PUCC offers equal education-training opportunities for the male and the female students. It is a vocational and a skills oriented college that aims at preparing its students as per the emerging market demands.
PUCC offers the following facilities to its students that will improve the learning competence of the learners. The college library is well equipped knowledge centre having around eight thousand books of various fields including Computer Sciences, Medical Sciences, Engineering, Agriculture & many other fields. It also pays for several journals, dailies and educational magazines to improves its knowledge base. The library is equipped with modern amenities like a barcoding system and photocopying services, and remains open six days a week from 9:30 am to 6:00 pm. The labs in the college, academic discipline, scientific and technical tools, and equipment and student training in computer technologies and other types of equipment. Apart from this, the college has two computer labs with 85 computers having i5 processors along with 2 high end servers to meet the computing requirement of the students. The functionality of Wi-Fi is implemented throughout the territory of the entire campus and the educational establishment uses a 40 Mbps fiber-optic connection provided for both employees and students. Other amenities are a cafeteria and a hall for various functions and presentations.
The college teaches full time undergraduate courses as well as postgraduate diplomas and vocational diplomas with a total of 44 courses. The major courses that are offered to the undergraduate level students include the BCA, BBA, B.Com, and other B.Voc in specialty areas such as Cardiac Lab Technology, Radiographic and Imaging Technology and Software Development and so on. It also conducts postgraduate diploma courses in Computer application, Hospital Management, nutrition and Dietetics and Yoga. Intake capacity differs from course to course, BCA, BBA has total 52, B.Com has total 60 where by having most of the B.Voc programmes has total intakes capacity of 24 students each.
PUCC has standard procedures in the admission process and has no prejudice in this process and as such is merit-based. The college may use the performance of students in the qualifying examination for most courses. Since the B.Voc programmes are vocational in nature, the multiple intelligence selection criteria may be skewed towards identification of innate ability in each field. In general, PUCC follows the same calendar session of Pondicherry University.

Degree wise Admission Process
BCA (Bachelor of Computer Applications): The institution operates a BCA course which has an intake capacity of 52 students. The mode of admission is merit secured through the qualifying examination. The candidates need to have completed their higher secondary education with mathematics or computer science as subjects.
B.Sc Programs: The college offers B.Sc programs in Biochemistry and Visual Communication, both courses accepting 30 students for admission. Admission is merit-based considering the marks obtained in the subjects relevant to 10+2.
BBA (Bachelor of Business Administration): The system is BBA and has approved intake towards it as 52 students. Admission is by merit to the performance at the 12th standard exit level, with those in commerce being given preference.
B.Com (Bachelor of Commerce): PUCC offers B.Com programs within it with an intake of 60 students. Selection for these programs is based on merit in qualifying examinations that consider commerce subjects.
B.Voc Programs: There are many Bachelor of Vocation (B.Voc) programs offered by PUCC such as Cardiac Lab Technology, Radiographic and Imaging Technology, Operation Theater Technology, Renal Dialysis Technology, Optometry Technology, Tourism and Service Industry, Retail Management, and Software Development. Most of the B.Voc programs have an intake of 24 students each, while the Tourism and Service Industry possess 30 seats. Admission to these programs may require a blend between that of academic merit and aptitude for the specific vocation field.
Postgraduate Programs: These postgraduate diploma programs are PGDCA, PGD in Hospital Management, Nutrition and Dietetics, Yoga, and Drama and Theatre Arts. Typically, these programs have an intake of 30 students each. Admission shall be based on the candidate's performance in the undergraduate degree program and may include an interview process.
