R.A. Podar College of Commerce and Economics was established in the year 1941 at Matunga, Mumbai. This co-educational college is affiliated with the University of Mumbai. With a glorifying past in commerce education over more than eight decades, this has remained one of the most esteemed institutions. The college is spread over a compact 1.55 acres campus with a total student enrolment of 2,399 and a faculty strength of 18.

R.A. Podar College of Commerce and Economics also provides various facilities that would support the needs of the students and make campus life fulfilling. The library came up along with the establishment of the college in 1941 and now houses an impressive collection of more than 72,000 books and 2,254 bound volumes of national and international periodicals. On the sports front, it has got well-equipped gym facilities for playing table tennis, carrom, chess, and NCC activities. The IT infrastructure consists of two computer laboratories with 52 computers in all, and the latest licensed software and hardware are provided. Students can also avail themselves of the privately run college canteen by the same caterer for the past ten years. There is also a multipurpose assembly hall with a seating capacity of 500, which also acts as an auditorium for cultural programmes while serving as an indoor sports centre for sports like badminton, judo, and boxing.

R.A. Podar College of Commerce and Economics has a very extensive range of courses to its credit in every possible area of commerce and business-related education. The Institution offers courses in undergraduate and postgraduate programmes and doctoral studies with 16 courses. Almost all these courses are based on regular modes of learning, full-time on-campus courses. 

The admission process in R.A. Podar College of Commerce and Economics is meritoriously competitive. Undergraduate courses are offered by the college based on the performance of the student in their 12 standard examinations. The postgraduate admissions require a bachelor's degree in the relevant fields, and may consider entrance examination scores. The PhD course requires the college to conduct a Ph.D. Entrance Test; however, the candidates who have cleared NET/SET/M.Phil./JRF examinations in the relevant subjects shall be exempted from this test. The college also conducts interviews for PhD applicants.
