RajaRajeswari Dental College and Hospital, Kumbalgodu: Admission, Courses, Fees, Placements

RajaRajeswari Dental College (RRDCH), officially started in the year 1992, is a self-financing, co-educational institution situated at Kumbalgodu, Bangalore, Karnataka, India. This is a co-educational college built on 5-acre land recognized by Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences and accepted by the Dental Council of India (DCI). It has recognition from the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC), which acknowledges the religion's effort towards providing quality education. The college has 13 courses spread across three levels of study, BDS, MDS, and Ph.D.; the total number of students enrolled is 555, and the college has a total faculty of 85. The gender distribution and class distribution of the student population are 92% female, 8% male students, and 79% are undergraduates, with the remaining being postgraduate students.

The institution has many facilities that are considered modern to enhance the academic nature of RRDCH. The college boasts a library that contains upwards of 6,000 volumes for dental doctors and currently offers over ninety national and international dental journals, besides offering e-journals through Helinet membership. Hostel facilities for boys and girls include dishconnected TVs and full-time wardens for hostels and students spend most of their time in hostels. This has been backed by a multi-gym, sports facilities for outdoor games such as cricket and football, and a 350-seater cultural hall. First aid facilities are provided in a health center for the benefit of the students. Foods available at the college canteen are Indian food like south Indian, north Indian, Chinese, and dietary food also.

RRDCH has assembled a range of dental training programmes that is unmatched by any other institution of higher learning in Tanzania. The BDS has 100 seats, and various MDS specialisation courses include Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery, Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics and Conservative Dentistry & Endodontics, which have 6 seats each. It also has a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.)—Doctorates in various disciplines including periodontology, orthodontics, dentofacial orthopedics, prosthetics, and crown and bridge. All our courses are full-time so that our students get proper focused dental education all through their courses. The college enrollments during the academic year 2021 were 438 undergraduate students and 117 postgraduate students.

The process of admission to RRDCH is, however, mainly focused on national-level entrance examination results. BDS: Due to the self-financing quota, admissions take place through NEET, while MDS: National Eligibility and Entrance Test for MDS (NEET MDS). The college follows the admission timetable as well as the requirements of these national-level tests. RRDCH also helps deserving students through scholarship programs that are given out to deserving students. Of the 438 undergraduate students and 117 postgraduate students admitted in 2021, only 72 and 7 respectively benefitted from reimbursement to show the college effort in making quality dental education affordable to students.
