The mode of the exam will be online and the exam is conducted in 3 stages. Firstly, know the pattern and preparation. Keep your concepts clear. Attempt as many as mock test paper and previous exam papers also. For general knowledge, you can use Lucent's general knowledge. Always go through daily news. Make yourself organised. Time management should be your priority.

No, you are not eligible for AFCAT exam because they clearly mention that they require 60% marks in physics and maths too. As your marks don't fullfill these requirement so you can't go for AFCAT.

Air Force Common Admission Test is conducted in two stages – Online Exam and Air Force Selection Board (AFSB) Interview. There is no reservation in AFCAT Entrance Exam, IAF decides AFCAT cut off for online exam out of 300 whereas for EKT out of 150 marks. You can check the previous year cutoff with the given below link.

Air Force Common Admission Test (AFCAT) is conducted by the Indian Air Force twice (usually in February and September) every year for selection of Officers in various branches of air force including Flying Branch, Technical Branch,Ground Duty Branch.
The Eligibility Criteria:
Graduation (3 years) in any discipline with Minimum 60% marks and should have passed Maths and Physics as subject at 10+2 level B.E/ B.Tech from a recognized University.

No, a short service commision officer pilot recommended through AFCAT cannot get a permanent commission in the IAF after completion of his tenure. Although the IAF recommends you in case you wish to fly in civilian airspace after you retire from active service.
