The Ramgarhia College of Education for men situated at Phagwara is one of the premier institutions established in 1956 for preparing teachers to teach in schools in the state of Punjab, India. Over all this college is co-educational college which is located at Satnampura, Phagwara affiliated to University System and is approved by NCTE/NC/0145/2010 under National Council for Teacher Education. The college has received its accreditation from the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC), in regard to quality assurance of the college. Located in 2.73 acres of area Ramgarhia College of Education provides two streams of Education degree course having 257students intake capacity and 14 faculties. This fact makes the institute an important actor in the development of the region’s educational process as it is specialised in teacher training.

Ramgarhia College of Education offers two full-time courses: A Bachelors of Education (B.ED) and Masters of Education (M.ED) programme. Forty seats have been approved for the B.Ed programme while fifties seats for the M.Ed programme for the academic year 2012-2013. Both of them take two years to finish and give a proper knowledge of educational theory and practice. Baresi to these two specific courses, the college is able to offer immense concentration towards offering well trained educators at both the under graduate and post graduate levels.
The admission procedure of RCoe Ramgarhia however differs with respect to the course that a candidate wants to undertake. In case of the B.Ed programme the admission is made based on the merit of the qualifying examination. In contrast to the M.Ed programme has more quality for Selecting students. However, for a candidate to be admitted to this college the candidate may choose to sit for entrance examination conducted by the affiliated University or State Government, though the college also sets its own entrance examination in the absence of the stated examinations by the affiliation University or State Government. This way the institution gets to determine how prepared the candidates are for further education classes in the area of teaching. The college also owns a Career Counseling and Placement Cell which arranges campus placements in in association with organisations within the locale to provide job openings to the B.Ed and M.Ed students on their completion. How it has been otherwise it is not known but through such activities that is making to assist students in their higher learning endeavours as well as in their future employment pursuits.
