Rehbar Institute of Medical Sciences was founded in 2008, at Bhawanigarh, Punjab; it is a component institute that offers only nursing courses. Faggu Wala Kenchian, Sangrur Road, is a co-educational school which has a campus area of 3.raiseland. Recognized by the INC, the institute has two post basic nursing specialisations. Aiming at providing quality education with total intake capacity of 175 students and faculty strength of 27 Rehbar Institute offers the students a competitive learning environment for pursuing a career in healthcare sector. This is evident through the individualized programmes offered by the institute and through such facilities as the Black and Abroad.

To cater the need of its students the Rehbar Institute of Medical Sciences boasts of a number of facilities that it avails to its students. The Rehbar Institute of Medical Sciences is well facilitated with boys and girls hostels having facilities like room cooler, fan, geysers, Television etc. It has a clean environment, where well balanced meals are provided, and games are also offered for indoor play. The institute has arranged buses for the day scholars from Sangrur bus stand to the college on payment to the college. It has several laboratories for community health, nutrition and nursing art for the students to exposure to state of the art technologies. Technologically endowed computer laboratory assists to train the students with the technological health care society. The institute’s library boasts of the air conditionalers, books by different authors, medical education CDs, journals and periodicals encouraging the students to study hard. Classrooms are large and airy with proper furniture and the necessary teaching aid like over head projectors. Other amenities include a playground, a hall for seminars and other occasions, gym and aerobics, health facility with first aid, a canteen and accommodation for guest faculty and their families respectively.

The institute offers two full-time nursing courses: GNM and ANM are Bachelor in nursing course and two year course in nursing respectively as a basic qualification. The intakes for the GNM programme are approved for 50 students, while the intake for the ANM programme is not mentioned. The two programmes are structured to deliver a broad based nursing curriculum and train capable students for nursing practice. The GNM course takes three years while the ANM course is a two year course. These courses are designed to impart the necessary base of theoretical and practical knowledge for nursing experts.

The admission criteria of Rehbar Institute of Medical Sciences reflect the merit to make it possible for the suitable candidate to attain his or her nursing training. Despite lack of specific dates for exams, the institute is keen to note that the admission process is competitive. This approach clearly depicts that the institute wants to keep up high standard of academic as well as wants to ensure competitiveness among the students. It also demonstrate the institute’s commitment to only offer student admission through a worthy process since the goal of offering the course is to produce well trained, competent and productive nursing professional in the health care field.
