RPS Degree College, Mahendergarh, and admissions into the various undergraduate and postgraduate programmes are conducted purely on the basis of merits. The college is affiliated with Mattu Ram Panwar Education Trust; it has earned goodwill regarding admissions through its stringent, transparent and fair mechanism of admission. Merit is the guiding principle in the admission process at RPS Degree College. Priority is given to those candidates who fulfil all the eligibility criteria laid down by the college. For determination of admission dates, the college sticks to the academic calendar of its affording university.
While certain dates might change from year to year, it could be safely said that admission will generally coincide with the regular academic year as commencing in July/August. Eligibility criteria for admission vary from program to program. On the undergraduate level, it requires students to have passed 12th class from any recognized board; whereas for entry into the postgraduate program it requires a bachelor's degree in the relevant subject. The college offers a wide range of courses such as B.Sc. (Non-Medical and Medical), B.Com, BA, and various M.Sc. programs.
Application Process
The application process is simple and pretty much the same for all the years and steps are as follows for 2022:
1. Announcement of Admission: Announcement for the college admission process is made via its official website along with advertisements in other local media.
2. Application Form: Candidates must obtain and fill up the application form. This might be done online via the college's website or from the college admission office.
3. Submission of Document: The duly completed application form shall be submitted along with necessary documents, generally including:
4. Application Fees: Candidates ought to pay the prescribed application fees. The mode of payment and amount of fees may change and its confirmation has to be made from the college.
5. Merit List Preparation: After having complied all requirements, the college prepares a merit list according to criteria set for each course by taking into account the marks obtained in the qualifying examination.
6. Making the Merit List Publicly Available: The merit list is put up on the college notice board and/or the college website.
7. Counselling and Seat Allocation: Those shortlisted may be called for counselling and seat allocation based on merit and availability.
8. Fee Payment: On the other hand, the chosen candidates must pay the course fee within the designated time to confirm their admission.
9. Document Verification: Original documents submitted by the candidates during the admission process are verified by the college.
10. Commencement of Classes: Thereafter students are permitted to attend the classes according to the academic calendar of the college.
Degree wise Admission Process
B.Sc Non-Medical: An intake of 340 seats is available for this course. Admission is on merit, based on the marks scored in the qualifying exam (10+2) with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics being core subjects.
B.Sc Medical: The course is managed by providing admission to 120 students based on the merit list taking into consideration the score of Biology, Chemistry and Physics in 10+2 examination.
B.Com: The college offers 140 seats for this program. Admission is by merit based on marks in qualifying examination especially in Commerce or related subjects.
BA: This program has an intake of 180 seats. The admission process is merit based on the marks secured in the 10+2 examination.
M.Sc Programs: The college offers M.Sc. in Chemistry, Mathematics, Physics, Geography, Botany, and Zoology, each having 40-80 seats. Admission to these additional courses is offered on merit based on the qualifying bachelor's degree in the relevant subject.
B.Sc Honour Programs: The college provides Honour programs for Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Zoology, and Botany with each having 40-80 seats. Admission is based on a merit basis of the 10+2 examination with a strong focus on the relevant subject.
M.Com: This is a postgraduate program and is offered with 40 seats. Selection is based on merit obtained at B.Com or equivalent.
