Saastra College of Pharmaceutical Education and Research (SCPER) came into existence in the year 2007. SCPER is one of the leading pharmacy education institutions located at Kakupalli, Andhra Pradesh. It is a co-educational, affiliated college approved by the Pharmacy Council of India (PCI) and the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE). SCPER has a campus of 3 acres, with a total student enrolment of 498, and a faculty strength of 65. It offers 10 courses across 4 degree programmes in the specialty area of pharmaceutical education and research.
SCPER has a commitment to offer a thoroughly enabling learning environment to students. The college provides separate hostel facilities for boys and girls with the availability of a very safe and comfortable stay for out of town students. The hostels are provided with all necessary facilities, such as medical aid, counseling services, and in-house laundry facilities. SCPER is enabled with the world-class facility of a library and information centre all around the year, which is well-equipped with all types of books, journals, e-resources, and online databases to pursue academic interests. The campus is Wi-Fi enabled for the students' interest in browsing scientific literature, interactions with faculty both nationally and internationally, and with other educational pursuits. Labs are up to date at all the departments for practical learning by the students.
It offers varied range of pharmaceutical courses that includes B.Pharma, M.Pharma with different specialisations, D.Pharma, Pharm.D and Pharm.D Post Baccalaureate programmes. All these courses have been so designed as to meet and cater to different aspects of the pharmaceutical sciences and to see that the students get complete education in their chosen fields. The B.Pharma programme is one such leading course that exposures students to unknown and mysterious medicinal world, a dimension that has been less visited and many want to know. The intake capacity of this programme is 100 students. However, the D.Pharma can only cater to 60 students. The M.Pharma Pharmaceutical Technology programme has 18 seats. All courses are full-time, providing students with in-depth knowledge and practical experience in their respective fields.
The admission process at SCPER varies from course to course. For under-graduate courses like B.Pharma, the hall accepts scores of AP EAMCET conducted by Andhra Pradesh Engineering Agriculture and Medical Common Entrance Test. Admissions to the M.Pharma course at the postgraduate level are done based on the GPAT or AP PGECET score. Postgraduate admissions of the D.Pharma course are based mostly on the score of entrance exams like GPAT or AU AIMEE; many colleges offer merit-based admissions too. The institution has a well-established and active Training and Placement Cell, which acts toward inviting campus visits and coordinating the recruiting process of prospective employers for graduating students.
