Sant Baba Attar Singh Government polytechnic College, Badbar was established in 2012 and is affiliated to PTU, provisions Patiala Punjab India. This government established college accredited by AICTE provides technical education on a vast land measuring 7.13 acres. The college itself has wide student intake of 295 while being staffed with 16 faculty members that offer a concentrated learning experience. Currently, the institute has two vocational diploma courses, these include Civil Engineering diploma and Mechanical Engineering diploma for students who would want practical vocational training.

The college provides such learning amenities which enhance learning to its students in order to meet their challenges. The institutional library which was developed in the year 2013 has a vast collection of text books and reference books civil engineering, mechanical engineering, computer engineering, electronics and electrical engineering. Some of the resources are; It also subscribes 10 magazines and 4 journals ensure the student accessing new trend and new researches in the field. This ease of use is complemented by the E-Granthalya software where student issues and returns physical books themselves. 

Among the features of the college is a concern with the ‘practical education’ approach which is manifested in the workshops. These include the machine/turning shops for turning students into professional manufactures, the welding shops, carpentry shops, the foundry shops and electric shops where students practice their manufacturing skills and projects respectively. For physical development the campus has the following sporting facilities badminton court, Kabaddi ground, Kho-Kho ground and two volleyball fields. The college teams have been doing well in PTIS games, the recent accomplishment involving Kabaddi and Kho-Kho games. Also, there are IT facilities and a staff and students’ cafeteria within the campus vicinity.

Sant Baba Attar Singh Government Polytechnic College, Badbar currently offers two full-time diploma programmes: The two programmes are Diploma in Civil Engineering, and Diploma in Mechanical Engineering. Each programme has an approved enrolment of 60 students and therefore the 2 programs = 120 seats are available. Each is a three year program where, after the completion, the student has a good grounding in the subject matter. It is students oriented college with pragmatic and vocation-oriented orientation, and the main purposes of students’ trainings are to provide them with the opportunities to enter the work activity right after the college or continue their education in the sphere of engineering.

It’s not clear about the admission process but it is seen that most polytechnic colleges offer admission through score obtained in entrance test or 10th standard exams.
