Satya Ranjan College, Kalain, came into existence in the year 1992 as a general degree college affiliated to Assam University. Located at the heart of serene town Kalain, Cachar, Assam, this is a co-educational institute spread over 5.15 acres of campus, providing an ideal ambiance for learning. At present, it has a total student enrolment of 1,330 and a faculty of 19 devoted teachers.

Pride of the institution among the large number of facilities is there to welcome students. It acts as the backbone of academic resources with its rich collection of books, journals, and newspapers. The college works efficiently by using LibWare ILS software to manage the library, and it provides access to e-resources, thereby exploring the new tool of modern education. Many sporting facilities are provided to the sports enthusiasts so that they can carry on with their favourite sports. The campus canteen provides a central place for the students and the staff, serving healthy and economically viable meals in a clean environment.

Satya Ranjan College offers four undergraduate courses, and all are full-time programs. Among them are BA (Hons) in Economics, BA (Hons) in Bengali, BA (Hons) in Political Science, and general BA degree. Which exactly proclaims its mission to bring qualitative education to a large section of students within the region.

The Satya Ranjan College admits students based on a merit per basis system to make sure that the right students deserving of admission get a chance to fulfill their higher studies ambitions. The admission procedure in the college is rather systematic and is governed by its "admission rule" framed by its admission committee. The admission to all courses at the three different levels, namely BA Economics (Hons), BA Bengali (Hons), BA Political Science (Hons), and the general BA program, is undertaken solely on the basis of academic merit.
