School of Hotel Management and Catering Technology of Jaipur National University was set up in the year 2002 and is one of the leading schools situated in Jaipur, Rajasthan. This co-educational institute approved by AICTE provides various specialisations in hospitality and culinary art fields. The school has a team of 16 committed full time faculty members. The school is well equipped to offer the best of educational facilities to those who want to be associated with the hotel business either as administrative professionals or professional chefs. The institute provides 5 programmes across 4 disciplines, which include hotel management, hospitality administration, and culinary arts that prepare students to fit various positions in the hospitality profession.
The students of the School of Hotel Management and Catering Technology have exercising options of improved contribution of various facilities. The campus is equipped with 63 highly functional laboratories thus affording each and every student numerous experiences in his or her field of interest. It’s library of 39,103 volumes is updated time to time according to the new trends in the market. Academic related lectures or gatherings, particularly the college has fully furnished, air-conditioned auditorium complete with appropriate projection systems and internet connection. The wireless facilities across the campus guarantee that students and all other staff members have internet connection at their disposal. All sports inclined candidates can utilise the well equipped athletic courts such as basket ball, volleyball, cricket, badminton, football and tennis and there is a athletic stadium also. It also has interests of students’ health where there is provision of health facilities and within the compound there is an 800 bed multi-specialty hospital.
School of Hotel Management and Catering technology is provided with as many courses as possible to meet the needs of the hospitality trade. At present, the institute offers 5 full time programmes comprising of Bachelors, Diplomas integrated programme. The largest course is the Bachelor of Hotel Management and Catering Technology (BHMCT) that has 60 admitted students to be managers in hospitality industries. Others are B.Sc. Hospitality and Hotel Administration, Diploma in Bakery and Confectionery, Diploma in Culinary arts and BHMCT-MBA integrated programme. To make sure that the students will develop an adequate background in the subject, these courses provide both theoretical inputs and hands-on training needed in the ever changing hospitality environment.
Candidates’ admission into the school of Hotel Management and Catering Technology change from one programme to another. To enter BHMCT and BHMCT – MBA, students must undergo an examination, Personal Interview (PI). This approach makes sure that successful candidate is not only academically capable, but also of the right character that will suit hospitality industry. For other programs such as B.Sc. Hospitality and Hotel Administration, Diploma in Bakery and Confectionery, and Diploma in Culinary Arts students are selected on merit and interview. This process allows the institute to evaluate the performance of the candidate both in academic and proposed field of study and interest. This show the institute’s commitment of offering quality education coupled with the statutory approval of AICTE that allows the programmes to abide with the standards of technical education in the country.
