Ph.D. Statistics at School of Mathematics, Applied Statistics and Analytics, Narsee Monjee Institute of Management Studies, Mumbai Offline Course

The admission process shall be based on a written test and a personal interview.

Note: The candidate qualified in UGC-NET (including JRF)/UGC-CSIR NET (including JRF)/SLET/GATE (Valid Score of that particular year) /teacher fellowship holder or have passed M. Phil. program are exempted from NMIMS entrance test. However, they have to appear for Personal Interview. 

 a) Entrance Test: (Time: 90 minutes / Total: 70 marks), will be conducted at Mumbai campus only. The written test shall be based on an Aptitude Test carrying 20 marks and a subject specific test carrying 50 marks. The candidate must have qualified written test with qualifying marks as 50% conducted by the NMIMS University. 

Syllabus of Entrance Test: 

 A. Common Aptitude based MCQ (Logical reasoning, Quantitative Aptitude, English Language) 20 

B* Subject / Domain Specific MCQ (Linear Algebra, Probability Theory, Distribution Theory, Statistical Inference, Estimation Theory.) 50 

 *Syllabus will be as per the postgraduate courses. 

Duration: one and half hour (90 Minutes) 

All Questions are compulsory & in multiple choice format 

No negative marking 

The marks will be converted to out of 50.

 b) Personal Interview: Personal Interview shall consist of a presentation based on Statement of Purpose (SOP), which will be followed by one-on-one interview. During interview candidates are expected to discuss their research interest/area. 

The following aspects shall be considered during the Personal Interview. 

(i) whether the candidate possesses the competency for the proposed research; 

(ii) whether the research work can be suitably undertaken at the university /research centre; 

(iii) whether the proposed area of research can contribute to new/additional knowledge.

Final merit list will be based on Written Test & Personal Interview. 

Qualifying in the Entrance Test and Personal Interview does not essentially mean the confirmation of Ph.D. programme admission. 

Admission offer is given as per the merit and vacancy available. WAITLISTED candidates have to check their merit list status as per the date given on the website. SELECTED candidate should upload necessary required documents and pay the full course fees at the link given in respective candidate’s login within the stipulated given time frame. Kindly note that only those candidates who complete the process by paying fees will be admitted to the program.
