Scottish Church College was established in 1830 and founded by Revd. Dr Alexander Duff. Currently, the college is under the ownership and administration of the Church of North India (CNI). Scottish Church College is a government-aided institution. It has been granted Re-accreditation as a Grade 'A' Institution (3rd Cycle) by NAAC.

The college was well maintained although old . The library was very fruitful as there were all kinds of books. The college as different laboratory. The college canteen was very spacious. There is greenary everywhere.
This college have very good infrastructure ranging from smart classrooms, well equipped laboratories to lush green fields for various sport events. A central library is there in the main building along with departmental libraries. The canteen offers decent food only drawback being its not open regularly.
Scottish Church College is one of the best Colleges under University of Calcutta. This college has almost all the necessary infrastructure, facilities and equipment. The classrooms are well-structured. The living spaces are clean and the food in Canteen is hygenic.
