Selvam College of Physical Education Namakkal was set up in the year 2006 to train tomorrow’s physical education professionals. The college is situated in Ponnusamy Nagar, Namakkal, Tamil Nadu, and enrolling both male and female students and the total area of the land used for the college is 11.02 acre. NCTE affiliated college, The college has got NCTE approval for the quality education in the field of Physical Education. The institute teaches a total of four courses across three degrees and admitting a total student capacity of 277. The college’s academic staff includes 13 highly professional faculty members to ensure conducive learning environment and student-teacher ratio.

Selvam College of Physical Education has an extensive list of facilities within and without college which are useful tools in improving students’ learning. A knowledge centre is a well stocked library and learning by doing is made possible through modern laboratories. They include very good sports fields and a very well equipped gym, which a physical education student would require. An auditorium is used for various purposes and seminar sessions so as to encourage students’ extra curriculum engagements. The college provides the comfort of accommodation with separate hostels for boys and girls, and a separate mess which provides hygienic and nutritious food to the students as we have a health centre with first aid facilities. Further, the infrastructure facilities include Campus IT Infrastructure, Campus Non-Teaching Facilities like Parking Space and Guest House facility for the visiting faculties and their family.

The institute's academic portfolio includes four distinct programmes: Bachelors of Physical Education B.P.Ed with 100 seats, Masters of Physical Education M.P.Ed with 40seats and Bachelors of Physical Education & Sports (B.P.E.S) and Bachelors of Business Administration in Sports Management (BBA Sports Management). Such programmes are developed to meet different demands of physical education and sports management so that students can get all round education in the selected area of specialisation.

Selection criterion at Selvam College of Physical Education – A comprehensive and Merit based Admission procedure is in place. For B.P.Ed and M.P.Ed, it is noted that the student will be admitted based on their performance to entrance examination since the programmes requires the candidates to undertake written assessment, physical fitness and interview. The college also takes into account the percentage in the qualifying examination.
