SGV Ayurvedic Medical College, situated at Bailhongal of Karnataka State, which was founded in the year 1996, is one of the leading colleges imparting Ayurvedic education in Karnataka. This affiliated college is situated in the Belgaum district and is approved from the Central Council for Indian Medicine (CCIM) to provide standard education regarding Indian traditional systems of medicine. Located on a massive campus of 15 acres, the college offers undergraduate as well as postgraduate programmes in Ayurvedic courses. SGV Ayurvedic Medical College has a total student enrolment of 256, and the faculty contains 26 members that help the students learn Ayurveda in a way that is immersed in totality.
Everything in SGV Ayurvedic Medical College has been well thought out and has been established with student convenience in mind as it offers state-of-the-art amenities to support the needs of the students. There are a total of five courses offered in SGV Ayurvedic Medical College, out of which only five courses are undergraduate and four are postgraduate specialisations. The flagship undergraduate programme is the Bachelor of Ayurvedic Medicine and Surgery, while the postgraduate courses are MD Swasthavritta and Yoga, Kayachikitsa, Prasuti Tantra and Strirog, and Kaumarbhritya Bala Roga. All courses are full-time programmes, BAMS is a six-year programme and two MD programmes are each of three year’s duration.
For the undergraduate programmes the college accepts students under the National Eligibility and Entrance Test (NEET). The NEET score is required for the BAMS course, and the candidates must secure 50% percentile minimum marks for getting admission. But there are concessions for the reserved categories, SC/ST/OBC, where they need to obtain at least 40th percentile. Different candidates have different requirements depending on the category mentioned in the Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act, 2016. College admission is based on NEET scores that the college provides an All-India common merit list and a separate state-wise merit list.
