SDM College Ujire: Admission, Courses, Fees, Placements

The Shri Dharmasthala Manjunatheshwara College, Ujire (SDM College Ujire) is an autonomous college that is located is affiliated with Mangalore University. This co-educational college was founded in 1966 and this college is located at Ujire, Karnataka . It occupies a total area of 47.1 acres of land and has been recognized by NAAC acronyming National Assessment and Accreditation Council. The total number of students studying in SDM College Ujire is 3457 And total number of faculty members are 113 SDM College Ujire is a management and Governor’s first grade degree college which offers 11 degrees and 28 courses. It is one of the prominent institute offering vast range of academic programs in sciences, arts, commerce along with vocational courses at under graduate and post graduate level.

One of the areas that the College boast of is infrastructure and physical facilities that complement learning in the College. It is the ‘powerhouse’ of the institution with more than 105,693 serial and non-serial format of book and other information materials including Ha MaNa Research Centre that has 28558 books from the late Sri Ha∙Ma∙Nayak. There is information that the library contains not only 190 and more periodicals, magazines, and journals but has also e-learning resource center. It remains open from 8:is open from 30 AM to 8:00 PM during weekdays and its operations have special opening for the weekends in order to suit the students’ timetable.

The institution has made available first rate sports amenities for students and a well-equipped stadium include an indoor stadium namely Indraprastha auditorium has a capacity of 3000 seats and out door stadium namely Sri D Rathnavarma Heggade stadium with a capacity of more than 3000 spectators. There is also available International standard swimming pool of 50 by 25 meter with the length of 10 swimming lane. As for athletes, clients may find a multi-gym with the majority of standard equipment for fitness lovers.

The college offers adequate and rather cheap accommodation to both male and female students. The provided Dheemanth hostel for boys and Dheemahi hostel for girls have the capacity to accommodate about 400 students each. Both the hostels have same ‘Divyanna’ as common dining hall to provide the facilities like sports, multi-gym, healthcare and Wi-Fi facilities. The Siddhavana Gurukula, an innovative free hostel for high achieing scholars and athletes, adheres to the traditional Gurukula pattern and can house about 250 students.

Since its establishment, SDM College Ujire has been able to provide several different courses cut across disciplines. The college offers 11 under graduate courses such as BA, B.Sc, B.Com, BCA, BBA, B.Voc, in specialized areas of Digital Media and Film Making, Retail n Supply Chain Management and Software n App Development. In the post graduate level the college offers 12 programs where as M.Sc in different subjects M.Com, MSW & MA in different specializations. The institute also provides doctoral programs (Ph.D.) in specialties like Physics, Chemistry, Sanskrit, Economics, Kannada, History, Psychology and commerce.

Academic admission is the process used at SDM College Ujire where some courses have entrance exams. For instance, the M.Sc Biotechnology and MSW programs select candidates based on a 50:50 weightage for marks in the entrance and Qualifying Examinations. We have our standard policy where admission to the college is based on merit as well as reservation policy.
