Shri Guru Mallikarjuna College of Education, Bijapur, is a young institution built in 2016 focused on the future of education. This affiliated college at Chadchan, Karnataka is a relatively new but fast growing college, especially in the area of teacher education. The NCTE recognised institute has a co-educational facility on 18 acres of land for students to study and enhance their experience. A total number of students intake per session is ninety-nine while the number of faculty members is sixteen; consequently, the college has a good student to faculty ratio of 1:5.

Shri Guru Mallikarjuna College of Education has several state-of-the art facilities, which act to provide improvement on learning environment for the learners. Embedded in these is a well equipped library and has title books more than 4358 for B.Ed course and 3057 for M.Ed course separately and also having 28 number of international and national educational journals. The library which will be designed in such a manner as to maximise its usage by students will contain 130 students at any one time and is to facilitate research and reading. The IT infrastructure is also very good with a computerised laboratory, which has twenty-three high speed computers connected to internet to update the students with the advanced education materials.

Shri Guru Mallikarjuna College of Education is at present running only one major course namely of Bachelor of Education [B.ED]. This is a full time course with a duration of two years and the institute is allowed to take fifty students in a year showing the institute’s policy of standard offers. This programme of B.ED is to equipped the prospective teachers with the required knowledge, Skill as well as the practical experiences in order to be effective practitioner in the area of their discipline. However, it is crucial to understand that the college is currently running just the programme mentioned above; nevertheless, the total of 89 students open the possibilities for growth or development of other specialised programmes as well.

The college is an active learner of the merit list system with the following criteria that are used to assess applicants for the admission: marks obtained in the qualifying examination and/or entrance examination.
