Sikkim Manipal College of Nursing, Gangtok Facilities
SMCON provides its students the various provisions that may be beneficial in the evaluation and overall development of the students. SMCON Gangtok facilities includes hostels which has most of the basic requirements for the comfort of the female students. SMCON Gangtok facilities also include well furnished cots, mattresses, study tables, chairs, book racks and wardrobes. In terms of SMCON Gangtok campus facilities, students have uninterrupted electric supply, hot water facilities in winter, water coolers with Aquaguard filters, recreation halls and gyms.
SMCON Gangtok facilities contain a health centre with a first aid station for the student’s health care services. SMCON Gangtok library available in the SMCON is a gold mine where books, other than those related to the courses, are also procured. In the light of its membership to the Developing Library Network (DELNET) Consortium, it has access to the leading libraries across the country. Besides, intact departmental laboratories are preserved in the college for practical lessons. Other SMCON Gangtok facilities are canteen and cafeteria, assembly halls, and transport facilities for student and members of staff.

The country produces the largest number of doctors in the world but when it comes to specialisation after MBBS the number of seats available is even less than half as compared to the number of MBBS seats. The reason being the sprouting of private colleges offering medical undergraduate courses. While the competition at the UG level is tough, with more than 15 lakh candidates competing for approximately 83,075 MBBS seats each year, admission to PG courses is also a tough row to hoe.
