Sri Vasavi Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences (SVIPS) was founded in the year 2005 and is recognised by the Pharmacy Council of India (PCI) and the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE). It is situated in Tadepalligudem, Andhra Pradesh. The SVIPS campus extends 2.7 acres and offers 4 courses over 2 degrees in a number of disciplines of pharmacy studies. In total, there are 456 enrolments, and the gender ratio is 1:4, male to female. With 26 faculty strength, each student is noticed personally. At both undergraduate and postgraduate levels, SVIPS offers specialized programs in pharmacology, pharmaceutics, and pharmaceutical analysis.
The institute has a well-built infrastructure for the learning and development of students. The college library has a collection of over 5,600 volumes, subscribing to 25 national and international scientific journals, and is a pride of SVIPS. The college is geared to have the best laboratories for the respective departments, especially the Pharmaceutics Lab and the Central Instrumentation Lab, which are important for practical training, while labs for Pharmaceutical Chemistry and Analysis are also made available.
SVIPS also gives Student welfare a top priority with separate hostels for boys and girls, each having a capacity of approximately 500 students. There are sports and auditorium facilities for extracurricular activities. The health and safety of the student are taken care of by the nearby hospital with which the SVIPS has joined for services, and the children can be transported at any hour during the emergency. The other enriching experience a student undergoes is through the institute's administrative building, IT infrastructure, transport facility with 40 buses covering different surrounding areas.
SVIPS offers a total of 4 courses, both undergraduate and postgraduate programs. The B.Pharma is a 4-year full-time course, whereas M.Pharma in Pharmacology, Pharmaceutics, and Pharmaceutical Analysis and Quality Assurance is 2-year full-time program. The total intake approved for these courses is 145, in which 100 are the intake seats of B.Pharma and 15 each in the three specialisations of M.Pharma. During this current academic year, there were 396 students for undergraduate programs and 47 students for postgraduate programs.
Admission in SVIPS is on the basis of merit of marks scored by the students in tests, as per the rules of Government of Andhra Pradesh. In B.Pharma, one needs to qualify for the AP EAMCET (Andhra Pradesh Engineering Agriculture and Medical Common Entrance Test). Admissions to M.Pharma programs are done based on either GPAT (Graduate Pharmacy Aptitude Test) or AP PGECET (Andhra Pradesh Post Graduate Engineering Common Entrance Test). Reservation Policy is being followed by the institute as provided by the government from time to time. There are scholarships available to students too. 223 number students in undergraduate getting reimbursement in their fees in the 2021 academic year. Degree wise Admission Process
B.Pharma: SVIPS offers this 4-year full-time undergraduate course with approved intake of 100 students in B.Pharma. Admission to this course is granted on the basis of the AP EAMCET test. Therefore, a candidate must qualify in the AP EAMCET conducted by the Government of Andhra Pradesh. The selection is solely based on merit secured in the entrance test. Eligibility criteria include completion of 10+2 with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics/Biology as subjects.
M.Pharma: At SVIPS, there are 3 specializations available in M.Pharma; Pharmacology, Pharmaceutics, and Pharmaceutical Analysis and Quality Assurance. Each specialization has an intake of 15 seats, which makes the total seat intake in postgraduation programs 45. Admission for the M.Pharma programs is based either on GPAT or AP PGECET scores. Candidates need to qualify in either of these examinations for admission eligibility.
