One of the premier Pharmacy colleges, Srinivas College of Pharmacy (SCP) Mangalore, was founded in 2004. This co-educational affiliated college, which is approved by the Pharmacy Council of India (PCI), provides a scope of pharmacy courses. SCP occupies a tightly packed 2.5-acre plot with a total of 645 students and a faculty of 31. The college offers 10 courses under 5 degree programmes with specialisations in Quality Assurance, Industrial Pharmacy, Pharmaceutical Analysis, Pharmacology and Pharmaceutics. Thus, according to the priorities set for SCP as a university specialising in pharmaceutical education, the focus remains on producing highly qualified professionals willing to enter the pharmaceutical market.
This college has provided a number of facilities in order to add value of the learning process of their students. For out station students, the campus has accommodation facilities for boys and girls, respectively, to make them feel at home. An opulent library for knowledge access and usage, sufficient, sophisticated laboratories for multi-disciplinary pharmaceutical specialties including Pharmaceutics, Pharmaceutical Chemistry, Pharmacology & biotechnology, etc. It also possess sound computer facilities and a modern shade of technology that make its learning environment technological. For the overall development of the personality of the students, SCP has installed sports equipment and facilities, an arena like an auditorium to accommodate up to 250-300 students for functions, seminars, etc. There is first aid for emergencies, the health centre on campus, and a cafeteria to provide food for the students and employees. Srinivas College of Pharmacy provides pharmacy courses in many fields with total ten full-time course. These include Diploma programme (D.Pharma), Undergraduate (B.Pharma), Master’s degree (M.Pharma), Doctorate (Pharm.D and Ph.D.) and post baccalaureate (Pharm.D) programmes. The college thus offers intakes of total students in all courses as 645. In particular, planned frequency of B.Pharma programme is 60 students per year, while that of D.Pharma programme is also 60 students on yearly basis.
For academic purpose, Srinivas College of Pharmacy has a well-structured admissions process in which the admission and the merit basis have been incorporated systematically. For postgraduate courses such as M.Pharma, the college identifies Graduate Pharmacy Aptitude Test Score (GPAT), a national-level entrance exam. Engineering courses:
[Including B.Tech (Agri. Engg.) and B.Tech (Food Technology) courses under the Kerala
Agricultural University, B.Tech (Dairy Technology) and B.Tech (Food Technology) courses under
Kerala Veterinary & Animal Sciences University and B.Tech (Food Technology) course under
Kerala University of Fisheries and Ocean Studies].
Candidates who have passed Higher Secondary Examination, Kerala, or Examinations recognized
as equivalent thereto, with Physics and Mathematics as compulsory subjects and Chemistry as
one of the optional subject with atleast 45% marks put together in the above subjects are
eligible for admission. In case, the candidate has not studied Chemistry, the marks obtained in
Computer Science shall be considered. In case, the candidate has not studied Chemistry and
Computer Science the marks obtained in Biotechnology shall be considered. In case, the
candidate has not studied Chemistry, Computer Science and Biotechnology the marks obtained in
Biology shall be considered. The marks as shown in the mark list of the Board of Examination
obtained from the respective Higher Secondary Board shall be considered for academic
eligibility.
Note:-
(i) In two year Kerala Higher Secondary courses or examinations recognised equivalent thereto
with two year course where the Board Examinations are conducted in both years, the total
marks of two years in the respective subjects as shown in the mark lists of the respective Higher
Secondary Boards will be considered for academic eligibility.
(ii) In Higher Secondary courses or examinations recognised equivalent thereto where Board
Examinations are conducted only at the end of 12th class (final year), the marks in the
respective subjects as shown in the mark lists of the respective Higher Secondary Boards will be
considered for academic eligibility.
(iii) For all other type of Higher Secondary courses or examinations recognised equivalent thereto,
the marks of the respective subjects as shown in the mark list of the respective Board of
Examinations will be considered for academic eligibility.
(iv) The Vocational Higher Secondary Examination, Kerala, has been recognised as equivalent to the
Higher Secondary Examination, Kerala.
(v) In the case of nominees of Government of India and nominees of reciprocal quota seats who are
selected on the basis of the marks in the qualifying examination, the academic eligibility as
specified in clause 6.2.2 is applicable.
6.2.3 Architecture course:
(a) Candidates who have passed 10+2 scheme of examination with at least 50% aggregate marks in
Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics and also at least 50% marks in aggregate of the 10+2 level
examination or passed 10+3 Diploma examinations with Mathematics as compulsory subject with
at least 50 % marks in aggregate are eligible for Architecture course.
(b) In addition to the academic eligibility prescribed under clause 6.2.3 (a), only those candidates
who score the minimum eligibility marks as per the Information Brochure of National Aptitude
Test in Architecture (NATA) 2020 will be considered for admission to B. Arch. course. There is no
relaxation in the minimum passing score of NATA to any category of candidate as per letter No.
CA/5/Academic-NATA dated 11.03.2008. The candidates are advised to qualify in NATA on or
before 01.06. 2020.
(c) There is no provision for lateral admission to the second year or at any stage during the 5 year
course in Architecture.
6.2.4 B.Pharm course:
Candidate who have passed 10+2 examination conducted by the Board of Higher Secondary
Education, Kerala or Examinations equivalent there to with English as one of the subjects and
Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics/Biology as optional subjects individually.
In the case of B.Pharm Course, candidates belonging to SC/ST, a minimum pass mark is
required.
