St Michael College of Engineering and Technology (SMCET) was set in the year 1998, located in Kalayarkoil, Tamil Nadu. This affiliated college with AICTE provides a broad spectrum of engineering and management courses for the students. Located in a large 100 acre campus, SMCET offers the most appropriate ambience for learning and all round development. The total student intake of the college is 443 and faculty strength of 109, so that college maintains quality as well as quantity both. SMCET has 12 programme split across three baccalaureate degrees focusing on engineering and management.

St Michael College of Engineering and Technology has some of the best facility that has been developed to support the college and especially improve the output of a student. The library measuring 25000 sq.ft has a book collection of more than 35000, and accession to many national and international journals. It also includes a digital library with Internet connection at a high speed. For physically active students SMCET has all the necessary amenities which include Football & Hockey ground, Basketball Court with flood light, indoor games facilities etc. The campus is well IT enabled and has Internet facility all through power back up and uses IBM Lenovo work station for 600 plus work stations and four IBM X series server specification.

SMCET provides complete programme which caters all types of engineering and management ambitions. This college has 8 undergraduate courses being BE in Computer Science & Engineering, Electronics & Communication Engineering, Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Artificial Intelligence & Machine Learning, Biomedical Engineering and B.Tech in Chemical and Biotechnology. At the post graduate level, SMCET has ME in Computer Science and Engineering and Communication Systems, M.Tech in Biotechnology and MBA. The overall approval for these courses is 443 students per academic year, while individual course intake for each course ranges between 18- 60.

SMCET has it that, the admission process they use is holistic and the students selected have to be the best in their respective classes. For the undergraduate engineering programmes, CEETA-PG is mainly used in the admission process while CET is used for the admission of the postgraduate courses. The MBA programme accepts an entrance exam conducted by the Tamil Nadu known as TANCET. The college also has a process in which the candidate can apply and be given admission according to his/her academic ability in qualifying courses. Various scholarships are offered to the meritorious students in SMCET, but details are left unknown. The institution boasts of placing the alumni people across the market and the placement of these people across the job market enhances the reputation of the college and also offer relevant information to students in college.
