St. Soldier College of Education, Jalandhar, was started in the year 2003 and is a prestigious institution in Punjab. There are five full-time programmes offered in the institution such as the B.Ed programme that has a capacity of 200 pupils. The diploma programmes, the Diploma in Elementary Education (D.El.Ed), the Diploma in Physical Education (D.P.Ed), the Bachelor of Physical Education (B.P.Ed) and the Master of Education (M.Ed) each with a capacity of 50 pupils.The college to date has 484 students that make up the total enrolment which has been embraced with an aim of limiting the number of students admitted to a level that every class should be compromising of a limited number to make sure that every teacher student ratio is easily managed in order to improve proper learning and teaching.
Admission at St. Soldier College of Education follows a process, therefore it is competitive and bases its admission on merit. Regarding the admissions in the B.Ed programme, the colleges offer Common Entrance Test (CET) conducted by Panjab University, Chandigarh, Punjabi University, Patiala and Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar in the month of May/June. The D.El.Ed and D.P.Ed programme produce their merit through the standard of the qualifying exam and/or entrance test as prescribe by the state government or UT administration. Selection for B.P.Ed programme involves a written test, a fitness test, an interview and marks secured in the qualifying examination. For the M. Ed programme again, the admission is decided according to marks secured in the qualifying examination, university entrance test, or any other tests conducted by the government and the university from time to time.
