St. Thomas College is a recognised, affiliated college established in the year 1953 and is situated in Pathanamthitta of Kerala state of India. Recognised under the NAAC accreditation system, the college has a wide spectrum of programmes to its students. St. Thomas College is located on a wide piece of land of 16 acres and enrols a population of 1,914 students and has 84 teachers. The institution covers 31 courses spread out in 8 degree programmes cutting across the fields of Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics, Commerce among others. St. Thomas College has different facilities that are offered to make students improve their knowledge and skill levels. The college also provides well stock intellectual lab for practical exposure, gym hall for exercise freaks and a health care centre with first aid unit.
The college provides a broad spectrum of academic courses to meet every needed interest area and career path. In total, there are 31 courses but they are split between full time undergraduate and postgraduate programmes only. They are offered on undergraduate level in B.Sc Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Botany, Zoology, BA in Economics, English, Malayalam, Hindi, and History. The college has a wide postgraduate curriculum including M.Sc Physics, Chemistry, Botany, Zoology, Mathematics, Statistics, MA English, Malayalam, Economics, and Commerce. In addition, the institution has developed doctoral programmes in Physics, Botany, Zoology, Commerce, Chemistry and English which signify the institutions focus on research and higher studies.
The admission in St. Thomas College is mostly controlled by the CAP based on the University’s notification. At undergraduate level, there is direct admission, 50 % of total seats are filled under General Merit search while 20%percent total seats are filled under reservation merit search. Infrastructure is basic and not modern. Classrooms are very old and not well maintained. No hostel facility is provided by the college. But there is a sports centre and also a library with inadequate number of books.
