Suraj College of Engineering and Technology, Mahendragarh Admission Process

Suraj College of Engineering and Technology (SCET), Mahendragarh, is an autonomous institution delivering education in Engineering and Technology and holding AICTE approved status. The institution really conducts an open and fair admission process for its undergraduate and postgraduate programs.Countering several variables into the admission criteria, SCET considers scores of national-level entrance examinations, thereby admitting a diversely talented set of students.

For SCET, scoring high on the JEE Main must be the most important for admission to engineering. Examinations of JEE Main are conducted each year in January and April, both application processes for which begin a few months in advance.

For the management programs, SUVAS consider scores from various examinations such as Common Admission Test (CAT), Xavier Aptitude Test (XAT), Management Aptitude Test (MAT), and Common Management Admission Test (CMAT). Here is an indicative schedule for such examinations:

  1. XAT: January, once a year. (January 5, 2025, for the next session.)
  2. CMAT: January, every year. (City intimation slip- January 17, 2025, for the next session.)
  3. MAT: Several times a year; May session usually around application deadline of March 2.
  4. CAT: November-December, with exact dates announced later in the year.

Application Process

In terms of SCET, the outline of the application procedure depends on the programs to be offered:

For B.Tech Programs:

1. Examinations of JEE Main.
2. Registration for counselling through a justified State or Central Counselling Authority.
3. Selection of SCET and its preferred courses during counselling.
4. Seat allotment and reporting to SCET for document verification and fee deposition.

For B.Sc Chemistry (Hons):

1. Check for information regarding announcements for applications on the college site.
2. Fill up the application form available either from the college website or may be picked from the admission office.
3. Complete the application form enclosing all needed documents and application fees.
4. Wait for the selection list, probably based on the 10+2 scores or some admission test if ever conducted.

For M.Tech Programs:

1. Qualify GATE.
2. Apply for SCET through the official website and admission office after the commencement of applications.
3. Fill and submit the application with GATE score along with other relevant documents.
4. Appear for an interview or any further test only on being called for the same by the college.
5. Lastly, on selection, go ahead with the admission process by paying the fees and submitting original documents.

For MBA programs:

1. Attain a valid score in any of the accepted entrance tests (CAT/XAT/MAT/CMAT).
2. When SCET announces the MBA admissions (generally after declaration of exam results), apply for the SCET MBA.
3. Fill the application form with the entrance exam scores and other related documents.
4. Group discussions/interviews are conducted if you are shortlisted.
5. After selection, proceedings pertaining to admission shall be informed by the college to be abided by.

Degree Wise Admission Process

The B.Tech Programs : All B.Tech programs such as mechanical engineering, computer science and engineering, etc. are offered by SCET, thereby making the admission to these programs purely based on JEE Main score. The candidates must have a 10+2 with Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, and must qualify for the JEE Main examination.

The B.Sc Programs: The B.Sc in Chemistry (Hons) program is offered by the college. However, eligibility criteria for admissions to this program are not mentioned; probably, admission is based on 10+2 scores, Science subjects especially Chemistry.

M.Tech Programs: M-Tech programs such as Electronics and Communication Engineering are offered by SCET. Usually, admission to these programs depends on the GATE scores with possible interviews. Candidates should hold a valid B.E./B.Tech degree in a suitable area.

The copies of the following documents are generally required for admission:

  • Passport size photographs
  • 10th and 12th mark sheets and certificates
  • Graduation mark sheets and degree certificate (for postgraduate programs)
  • Entrance examination score card
  • Category certificate (if applicable)
  • Character certificate from the last institution attended
  • Migration certificate
  • Any other relevant certificates as specified by the Institute
