The School of indian Legal Thought M G University, Kottayam, inaugurated in 1989, is a premier institution breathing life into the fame of legal education in kerala state of India. Established and sited in the beautiful Surya Kalady Hills, this well-established school boasts of a wide umbrella of law courses. The institute is one of the few BCI approved law schools that have established themselves as institutions of choice in the study of law. The school has a faculty of 10 to competent enough experienced professionals thus enhancing an environment conducive for any new and budding legal practitioner. Institute provides seven courses under four degrees where it focuses on criminal law, constitutional and administrative law, environmental and IPR law respectively.

The School of Indian Legal Thought stands for a palette of programs in the sphere of law that includes undergraduate and postgraduate levels. The course offered and found in the course catalogue are 5 Year Integrated BBA LLB (Hons) Programme, 3 Year LLB Programme and 2 Year LLM Programmes with specialisations on; Criminal Law, Constitutional and Administrative Law, Environmental Law, Intellectual Property Rights and Cyber Law. All these programmes are taken on full time basis to make sure that students are fully trained and amortized on intensive legal education. Although data on the number of seats and intake capacity is not available taking into consideration the number of courses offered show that the school is uniformed in providing a range of opportunities in legal education.
Admissions at The School of Indian Legal Thought have been structured to only admit the most suitable candidates in their programs offered. In case of the BBA LLB (Hons), the admissions are done through an entrance examination organised by the school. The examination akin to the TET consists of on general awareness, logical ability, and writing proficiency and is conducted for two hours carrying 100 marks. These candidates are later interviewed by the Director of the school before admittance into the school. The school follows the reservation policy implemented by the university during the admission process to keep the student diversity in the school.
