About Universal Engineering College, Thrissur

The UEC came into existence in the year 2011, and it is well-renowned Engineering College situated at Thrissur, Kerala. This affiliated college which has got the approval of All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) has got the accreditation of National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC). UEC with 10.14 acre campus is home to about 1,068 students where the university avails several programmes in engineering. College has well qualified teaching staff with about sixty two members and the college is fortunate to have a student teacher ratio of 1: 1. UEC offers 8 courses at two different levels, undergraduate and postgraduate levels in engineering disciplines such as Computer science, Mechanical engineering, Electrical and Electronics Engineering, and Civil engineering.

Universal Engineering College has vowed to put up all modern facilities to enable students have the best learning environment they deserve. The UEC library is a treasure trove and contains over 5000 books of text, and over 40 journals and magazines. It also provides the facility of over 275 e- journals through its upgraded and sophisticated digital library system and has the Bibliographic Database System for preserving and providing facilities to store digital data in multimedia form. For their health the College has multi-talented playgrounds both indoor and outdoors under a fully equipped Department of Physical Education. The IT standards at UEC are superb, therefore students are able to enjoy technologically enhanced educational process.

They include the following programmes: At undergraduate level, the college offers four programmes, while at postgraduate level, the college offers four programmes. The B.Tech programmes which are the full time courses are of four year duration and concentrations offered are as follows: Computer Science and Engineering , Mechanical Engineering , Electrical and Electronics Engineering ,Civil Engineering Electronics and Communication Engineering. These include Post Graduate Degree programmes in Structural Engineering, M.Tech and a two-year, full time programme in Thermal Engineering. Originally, the total approved intake for all courses in UEC is 387 students in which the maximum number of intakes is 120 students for B.Tech Computer Science and Engineering.

The entrance test at Universal Engineering College is mainly the Kerala Engineering Architecture & Medical Examination (KEAM). This is a state level entrance examination through which aspiring students are able to get admission in to this University to pursue B.Tech courses offered by UEC. The admissions in various engineering disciplines are done through KEAM score that is fairly competitive at this college. Generally no particular dates of admission are mentioned though students have to constantly check the KEAM examination dates and results as they follow the dates of admission of the college. UEC places so much emphasis on nurturing talent and to meet this demand, offers the following engineering courses, Engineering and Technology, Engineering and Information Technology, Engineering and Management, Engineering and Architecture and Engineering Technology among others.

Universal Engineering College, Thrissur Admission

Universal Engineering College (UEC) in Thrissur stands as one of the most excellent engineering colleges in Kerala, India. This esteemed college grants undergraduate and postgraduate degrees in various engineering fields. UEC chooses its works of art for selection by conducting entrance examinations for the merit-based selection of really good candidates.

The primary entrance examination for admission to B.Tech programs of UEC is the Kerala Engineering Architecture & Medical Examination (KEAM). This exam is conducted at state level, in a yearly manner, around the months of April or May.

For postgraduate programs, UEC accepts GATE scores. This exam is usually held in the month of February; admit cards are issued from the first week of January.

The eligibility criteria for B.Tech programs at UEC include completion of 10+2 or equivalent examination with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics as compulsory subjects. For the admission of candidates for M.Tech programs, candidates must possess B.Tech or equivalent degrees in respective fields.

Application Process

The application process at Universal Engineering College, Thrissur differs according to the program:

Procedure for admission to B.Tech programs:

1. Register for the KEAM examination on CEE Kerala's official website.
2. Complete the KEAM application form with all required details and upload necessary documents.
3. Pay the application fee set by CEE Kerala.
4. Take the KEAM exam on the announced dates (April 24th-28th, 2025 for the forthcoming cycle).
5. After the announcement of KEAM results, the candidate has to join the centralized allotment process by CEE Kerala.
6. If the candidate is allotted a seat in UEC, he/she shall report to the college for verifying documents and complete admission formalities.

The application process for admission to M.Tech programs is as follows:

1. Registration for the GATE exam and a subsequent appearance for it.
2. Subsequently, an application is made to UEC for M.Tech admissions after the announcement of GATE exam results.
3. Filling out the UEC M.Tech application form, which is available on the website of the college.
4. Submission of the filled application form along with the GATE score card and other required documents.
5. The shortlisted candidates may be called for an interview or some other selection procedure.
6. Finally, the evaluation of GATE scores and performance in any interview or other selection methods is left for the final choice.

Degree-wise Admission Process

B.Tech: UEC offers five B.Tech programs: Computer Science and Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical & Electronics Engineering, Civil Engineering, and Electronics and Communication Engineering. Admission is based further on KEAM scores. The approved intake for all these programs ranges from 30 to 120 with Computer Science and Engineering upwards of 120 being the program offered with maximum intake.

M.Tech: The college provides two M.Tech programs, Structural Engineering and Thermal Engineering. Admissions on the whole are given mainly according to GATE score. The approved intake for M-Tech Structural Engineering is 18 seats and for M-Tech Thermal Engineering is 9 seats.
