Universal Engineering College (UEC) in Thrissur stands as one of the most excellent engineering colleges in Kerala, India. This esteemed college grants undergraduate and postgraduate degrees in various engineering fields. UEC chooses its works of art for selection by conducting entrance examinations for the merit-based selection of really good candidates.
The primary entrance examination for admission to B.Tech programs of UEC is the Kerala Engineering Architecture & Medical Examination (KEAM). This exam is conducted at state level, in a yearly manner, around the months of April or May.
For postgraduate programs, UEC accepts GATE scores. This exam is usually held in the month of February; admit cards are issued from the first week of January.
The eligibility criteria for B.Tech programs at UEC include completion of 10+2 or equivalent examination with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics as compulsory subjects. For the admission of candidates for M.Tech programs, candidates must possess B.Tech or equivalent degrees in respective fields.
Application Process
The application process at Universal Engineering College, Thrissur differs according to the program:
Procedure for admission to B.Tech programs:
1. Register for the KEAM examination on CEE Kerala's official website.
2. Complete the KEAM application form with all required details and upload necessary documents.
3. Pay the application fee set by CEE Kerala.
4. Take the KEAM exam on the announced dates (April 24th-28th, 2025 for the forthcoming cycle).
5. After the announcement of KEAM results, the candidate has to join the centralized allotment process by CEE Kerala.
6. If the candidate is allotted a seat in UEC, he/she shall report to the college for verifying documents and complete admission formalities.
The application process for admission to M.Tech programs is as follows:
1. Registration for the GATE exam and a subsequent appearance for it.
2. Subsequently, an application is made to UEC for M.Tech admissions after the announcement of GATE exam results.
3. Filling out the UEC M.Tech application form, which is available on the website of the college.
4. Submission of the filled application form along with the GATE score card and other required documents.
5. The shortlisted candidates may be called for an interview or some other selection procedure.
6. Finally, the evaluation of GATE scores and performance in any interview or other selection methods is left for the final choice.
Degree-wise Admission Process
B.Tech: UEC offers five B.Tech programs: Computer Science and Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical & Electronics Engineering, Civil Engineering, and Electronics and Communication Engineering. Admission is based further on KEAM scores. The approved intake for all these programs ranges from 30 to 120 with Computer Science and Engineering upwards of 120 being the program offered with maximum intake.
M.Tech: The college provides two M.Tech programs, Structural Engineering and Thermal Engineering. Admissions on the whole are given mainly according to GATE score. The approved intake for M-Tech Structural Engineering is 18 seats and for M-Tech Thermal Engineering is 9 seats.
