Universal Polytechnic College, Mohali (UPC) is one of the technical institutions of India established for offering diploma programs in various branches of engineering. It has laid down a systematic admission procedure for admitting willing candidates to its programs. The college is duly affiliated to the university and AICTE. UPC permits new entrants into its fold from JET rank holders who take the Joint Entrance Test (JET) organized by the Punjab State Board of Technical Education and Industrial Training (PSBTE & IT), Chandigarh. Degree wise Admission Process
Diploma in Mechanical Engineering: This is a program with 90 seats. Admission is mainly through JET, but also directly for 33% of seats by the College under the management quota, based on the JET score and Class X marks.
Diploma in Civil Engineering: This program equally has 90 seats, and the admission criteria follow the same pattern as that of the JET score followed by some through the management quota.
Diploma in Computer Science Engineering: This program has 60 seats, and the mode of offering seats, as for the above programs, is similar to all the programs under UPC. Selection of candidates is based on JET performance, with some seats directly allotted under management quota by the college.
Diploma in Electrical Engineering: The other program offering 60 seats. The admission process applied is similar to the other programs: JET scores are used for open seats and for management quota scores based on a combination of JET with Class X.
Diploma in Electronics and Communication: The program is less densely populated, with only 15 seats. However, its admission process is similar to those of other programs: JET performance for the open seats, JET and Class X results for management quota.
