Universal Polytechnic College, Mohali (UPC) is one of the premier technical colleges set up in the year 2009. Established in Lalru Mandi District Mohali, Punjab and situated in Village – Ballopur Lalaru – Handsera road, the college occupies a 5 acre land. UPC is a college affiliated with the university and recognised as an AICTE’s technical education council body in India. It has total student enroll of 428 and faculty of 68; it has 5 diploma , 11 undergraduate and 8 postgraduate programmes in engineering disciplines. They have been accredited to offer technical college education to the public and admit students of both genders as well as offer education in a conducive environment.

Universal Polytechnic College has some of the facilities that will facilitate education in and out of the class to give the students a feel of the real world. Accomodation details includes – The campus has seperately girls and boys hostels with facilities of well furnished rooms and grooming enviornment. Incase of medical complications, free medical attendion by professional doctors are offered to the college students. Information technology facility is satisfactory Having own Wi-Fi facility, it is available 24 x 7 in all the campus and it is useful for the academic activities.

In all, UPC provides the following 5 diploma course in engineering: All of the courses in UPC are full time and the duration of each course is 3 years. The courses are spread over a number of specialisations and these are Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science and Engineering and Electronics and Communications Engineering. In regards to total approved intakes for all the courses, it is 315 total number of seats. Unfortunately, there is no particular information regarding the graduating students; however, the total enrolment of the college is also 428, which shows the college has a good retention intake policy.

Thus, the admission is mostly done through Joint Entrance Test (JET) by Punjab State Board of Technical Education and Industrial Training (PSBTE & IT), Chandigarh. For the remaining positions, admission is made based on the learners JET score for the course. Furthermore, 33% of the seats in this category i.e management quota is also filled by the college directly based on the performance in JET and Class X % age. This double channel approach provides equal consideration to students as well as a thorough means of inviting them.
