Universal Polytechnic College, Mohali Admission Process
Universal Polytechnic College, Mohali (UPC) is one of the technical institutions of India established for offering diploma programs in various branches of engineering. It has laid down a systematic admission procedure for admitting willing candidates to its programs. The college is duly affiliated to the university and AICTE. UPC permits new entrants into its fold from JET rank holders who take the Joint Entrance Test (JET) organized by the Punjab State Board of Technical Education and Industrial Training (PSBTE & IT), Chandigarh. The JET serves as the access entry into the open category at UPC. The entrance tests will normally take place once a year. On that occasion, all applicants will be required to log on to the PSBTE & IT website for further details on dates and the application.
The admission procedure usually starts right after the announcement of the results of JET and is consequently followed by counseling and allotment of seats. Candidates are numbered according to their JET scores, after which the merit lists are prepared for allotment of seats accordingly.
Eligibility criteria for admissions to the diploma programs are usually:
- 10th standard or equivalent from a recognized board
- Qualified in the JET examination
- Any other criteria formulated by the PSBTE or by the college
Interestingly, it is 33 percent of the seats that are reserved under the management quota. The college will personally admit students in those seats on the basis of JET scores and Class X percentage as one more pathway for admission.
