There are different programs provided to the young minds at Chandigarh University, Chandigarh. In the University Institute of Design of Chandigarh University, they have created an admission process by structuring its mechanism so as to identify the brightest and take them aboard their courses. For Chandigarh University Common Entrance Test (CUCET) acts as the common entry point to all their courses offered within the University Institute of Design.

Chandigarh University conducts CUCET annually to test students for admissions to various courses at the institute and other affiliated universities, such as the University Institute of Design. The exams take place during November to May; several sessions have to be arranged because many people appear for it.

Prospective students interested in pursuing design education at the University Institute of Design must appear for the CUCET as part of their application process. The exam evaluates candidates' aptitude and skills relevant to their chosen field of study. While specific eligibility criteria for individual programs may vary, generally, candidates who have completed or are in the final year of their 10+2 education from a recognized board are eligible to apply.

Application process

1. Apply for the Chandigarh University Common Entrance Test, CUCET, on the website of the university.

2. Fill up the online application form for CUCET, ensuring that personal as well as academic information is correct.

3. Pay the required application fee through online payment modes.

4. The candidate must appear for the CUCET examination on the date scheduled for him/her. It is an online examination; thus, one should have a proper internet connection along with other devices required for taking the test.

5. Following the exam, wait for the declaration of the results. Based on the score in the CUCET examination, the university will release the merit list.

6. If selected as shortlisted, you will then be required to appear for other rounds of selections, like portfolio reviews or interviews, as is the case in the program selected.

7. After selection, you need to complete the formalities of admissions by submitting your documents and admission fees.

Degree-wise Admission Process

B.Des Interior Design: Admission to the B.Des Interior Design programme is based on the candidate's performance in the CUCET entrance examination. This program involves developing skills in interior space planning, aesthetics of design, and functional layouts.

B.Sc Interior Design: The B.Sc Interior Design course, too, allows admissions through CUCET. It requires a harmony of scientific principles with design concepts towards creating functional aesthetic interior spaces.

B.Sc Fashion Design: Students willing to get admissions in the B.Sc Fashion Design course must qualify the CUCET. This course deals with scientific and technical facets of fashion designing, such as textile science and garments construction.

B.Des Fashion Design: B.Des Fashion Design course selects its students on the basis of CUCET scores. This is a course that deals with creative designing skills, fashion illustration, and understanding fashion trends and markets.

B.Des Product and Industrial Design: Admission to the B.Des Product and Industrial Design program is through the CUCET. This course trains students in creating innovative and functional product designs for various industries.

BFA (Bachelor of Fine Arts): The BFA program also uses CUCET scores for admission. This course offers a broad-based education in various fine arts disciplines, allowing students to specialize in their area of interest.

Generally, the application process requires these documents:

  • Completed application form
  • CUCET admit card and score card
  • 10th and 12th standard mark sheets and certificates
  • Last institution attended transfer certificate
  • Character certificate
  • Passport size photographs
  • Any other program-specific documents as mentioned by the university
