Vagdevi College of Pharmacy, Gurazala, was established in the year 2004 as a premier institution for pharmaceutical education in Andhra Pradesh. The co-educational college, located at Gangavaram Post, Gurajala, has been continuing with the prestigious tradition of shaping pharmacists of the future since the last two decades. The programs offered by this college are recognised by the Pharmacy Council of India. It is affiliated with the Andhra Pradesh University. Vagdevi College of Pharmacy provides a conducive environment for learning and growth in the field of pharmacy with its total student enrolment of 422 and a faculty strength of 34.

The college has a plethora of facilities to enhance the learning process of students. A well-equipped library acts as a knowledge hub with its wide resources for research and study. The campus is aesthetically designed, and the laboratories are ultra-modern with state-of-the-art infrastructure, where students gain real-time experiences in pharmaceutical practices. The college provides a cricket ground, volleyball and badminton courts, besides infrastructure for indoor games such as chess, caroms, etc. 

The students are encouraged to participate in regular sports activities, and to foster holistic personality development, weekly sports activities are organised. Separate hostel facilities for boys and girls ensure the comfortable stay of outstation students. It also has a seminar hall for events and seminars, a canteen for snacks and other refreshments, and a guest house for visiting faculty and their relatives.

Course offered: Vagdevi College of Pharmacy offers all types of courses pertaining to pharmacy. This college offers five full-time courses across three degree levels, which cater to various specialisations in the pharmaceutical domain. The total approved intake of the college is 205, including all programs. The flagship program of the D.Pharma college is Bachelor of Pharmacy for the intake of 100 seats for good foundational base in pharmaceutical sciences. At the postgraduate level, the college offers three high-torque M.Pharma programs: one in Pharmaceutics, another in Pharmaceutical and Quality Assurance, and the third in Pharmacy Practice. Each of these programmes has 15 seats. The college also offers a 60-seated program in Diploma in Pharmacy (D.Pharma), which is a prompt programme intended for the students who wish to complete their diploma course in pharmacy sooner.

The college admits students based on performance in appropriate entrance exams. Undergraduate programs consider scores obtained in the Andhra Pradesh Engineering Agriculture and Medical Common Entrance Test (AP EAMCET). Graduate programs are admitted based on scores obtained in the Graduate Pharmacy Aptitude Test (GPAT) and Andhra Pradesh Post Graduate Engineering Common Entrance Test (AP PGECET).

For B.Pharma course, the candidates should have passed 10+2 with Science subjects of Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics/Biology as mandatory subjects. M.Pharma candidates should hold a degree in B.Pharma from a recognized institution. For D.Pharma course, the candidates should have passed 10+2 with Science subjects.

Application Process

The application process for Vagdevi College of Pharmacy is different for different programs:

For B.Pharma:

1. Appear for AP EAMCET organized by APSCHE.
2. Register for AP EAMCET counseling at the APSCHE website.
3. Complete college and course preferences at the time of counseling.
4. If a seat is granted at Vagdevi College of Pharmacy, report to the college for document verification and admission procedure.

For M.Pharma courses:

1. Clear GPAT or AP PGECET.
2. Register for the respective counseling process (GPAT or AP PGECET).
3. Join the counseling and mention Vagdevi College of Pharmacy as a favorable option.
4. If given a chance, undergo the admission procedure at the college.

For D.Pharma:

1. Refer to the college website or admission office to find out the procedure for filling in the application.
2. Fill in the application form accompanied by necessary documents and application fees.
3. Attend any selection process as instructed by the college.

Degree wise Admission Process

B.Pharma: The college offers B.Pharma with an approved intake of 100 seats. Admission is on the basis of AP EAMCET scores. The candidates should have passed 10+2 with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics/Biology. Counseling is conducted by APSCHE for selecting the candidates.

M.Pharma: Three specializations in M.Pharma are provided by the college - Pharmaceutics, Pharmaceutical and Quality Assurance, and Pharmacy Practice. 15 seats are available in each program. Candidates are admitted based on GPAT or AP PGECET score. The applicants should have a B.Pharma degree from any recognized university. Shortlisted applicants can be called for counseling.

D.Pharma: The Diploma in Pharmacy course has an intake of 60 seats. Admission is generally on the basis of the candidate's performance in the qualifying examination (10+2 with Science subjects) and any state-level entrance test for diploma courses, if held.

Documents usually required are:

  • Degree certificate and mark sheets (in case of M.Pharma candidates)
