Vijnan Institute of Science and Technology, Ernakulam: Admission, Courses, Fees, Placements

The private engineering college was established in 2011 and is situated in Ernakulam in Kerala called Vijnan Institute of Science and Technology or VISAT. As a University under APJ Abdul Kalam Technological University, VISAT provides its students with various B. Tech courses in different fields of engineering. The institute is situated on a 10.09 acres of land and it is recognised for total student intake of 340 Including all levels and is backed by 61 faculty members. VISAT aims to achieve quality technical education with references to value integrated teaching and learning processes, research, innovation and extension services.

There are seven B.Tech programmes in the institute and all of these are regular programmes. They are Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Electronics and Communication Engineering, Computer Science and Engineering, Computer Science and Engineering specialising in Data Science, and Artificial intelligence and Machine learning. The programmes’ length is four years. Although the governments have not stated an exact number of seats for each course, the total number of students that each programme enrolls is 340. As a result of this great variety of courses, a student gets a chance to pursue a course of his or her choice to meet his or her career goals.

At VISAT, admission is strictly in compliance with the Kerala state policies and is on merit basis. Half of the total number of seats are directly recruited by the government from the rank list drawn up by the Commissioner for Entrance Examinations based on merit and reservation policy respectively. The remaining 50% are co opted by the management, out of which 35% of the seats are from the entrance qualified candidates and 15% are NRI category. The only tests accepted for admission through the primary entrance examination are the Kerala Engineering Architecture & Medical (KEAM) tests. The course structure of the institute follows the systems of APJ Abdul Kalam Technological University and admission process begins after the declaration of KEAM.
