VOC College of Education, located in Thoothukudi, Tamil Nadu, India, established in 1955, is one of the famous institutions. As a co-educational institution affiliated to the Tamil Nadu Teachers Education University this institution has been nurturing the future of many educationist for more than six decades. Located on a large 58.82-acre campus, the college provides education from bachelors through to doctorate level. In terms of enrolment, VOC College of Education has the capability of taking 385 students for the course while employing eighteen well-trained faculties. Currently, the institute teaches six courses across four degree levels that admit students to different specialities in the field of education.
The college has many amenities that supplement the learning process of its students: The library, as a part of academic assets, stores many books, and there is a set of questions also placed in the library. It also came with a children’s corner being used by school kids in the area. The college has hostels for the boys and girls separately so that out-station students must feel comfortable if they have to live in the hostels. VOC College of Education provides students with a huge variety of exciting educational courses. This institute offers 4 full-time courses that include Bachelors in Education (B.Ed.), Masters in Education (M.Ed.), Masters of Philosophy in Education (M.Phil. Education), Doctor of Philosophy in Education (Ph.D. Education), and 2 part-time courses, which are Masters of Philosophy in Education part-time and Doctors of Philosophy in Education part-time. The total approved intake for all these courses is two hundred and ten and out of this, B.Ed. has the highest cutdown to one hundred. The proposed admission capacity for M.Ed. is 50; for M.Phil. and Ph.D., it is 20 each. These programmes are meant to afford various profession interests within the education field, instructional, research, and administrative.
Student admission at VOC College of Education is done on merit, that is, the marks they obtain in the examinations and tests. The admission process for the B.Ed. programme is done according to the percentage and/or entrance test score of the candidate, as per the rules and regulations of the state government, UT administration, and the university. Likewise, admission to the M. Ed. programme is done based on merit, mark sheets of the qualifying examination, entrance examination, or any other mode as decided by the authorities warranting.
