VTM NSS College, Thiruvananthapuram Admission Process

VTM NSS College, Thiruvananthapuram, is a recognized institution with several undergraduate and postgraduate programs. The college operates a scheme of centralized functioning with respect to admissions, with an emphasis laid on merit. The greatest weightage is given to the academic merit of the candidate since this bygone training is transparent and fair.  Admission to these courses is mostly based on merit concerning the pre-university qualification examination undertaken by the candidate. In all, 11 undergraduate and 5 postgraduate courses are available for students with varied interests. Admission kicks off soon after the commencement of a new academic year in the University of Kerala, to which the college has academic affiliation.

Students with 10+2 qualifications from a recognized board can apply for undergraduate admissions based on merit obtained in the qualifying examinations. Candidates for the postgraduate programs must have completed the Bachelor's degree in the relevant discipline from a recognized university. As a thumb rule, the college gives priority to academic merit; it doesn't hold its entrance tests for admission. Application Process

The application procedure adopted by VTM NSS College, Thiruvananthapuram, is simple and easy for all eligible candidates to follow. Here is a stepwise description of the application procedure:

1. Admission Notification: Admission notification gets widely circulated through the college website/and local media. Candidates should check the website frequently.

2. Application Form: One can obtain the application form from the college office or download it online from the official website. Some programs may also provide online application facilities.

3. Application Filling: An applicant filling the application form has to carefully write down all the required fields. Accurate information must be disclosed by the applicant and shall be double-checked before submission.

4. Document Submission: Along with the filled application form, the applicant must also provide self-certified photocopies of the following documents:

  • 10th and 12th mark sheets (for UG programs)
  • Degree certificate and mark sheets (for PG)
  • Transfer Certificate
  • Conduct Certificate
  • Caste/Community Certificate (if applicable)
  • Any other relevant certificates as per the college guidelines

5. Application Submission: Complete forms compiled by the applicant along with relevant documents should be submitted to the college admission office prior to the deadline specified.

6. Merit Listing: The college prepares the merit lists for enrollment based on the assessments of the candidates' academic performance in the relevant examination.

7. Publication of Merit List: The merit listing is published on the notice board as well as the website of the college. The candidate should confirm their status.

8. Counselling and Admission: Counselling sessions will be held for those selected into the Merit List, and candidates will be allowed to choose their preferred courses based on merit rank and availability of seats.

9. Fee Payment: The candidates selected should, within the required time, remit the prescribed fee to confirm the admission.

10. Document Verification: The original documents will be verified at the point of admission. The candidate must be in possession of all original certificates for verification.

Degree wise Admission Process

B.A. Programs: B.A. courses encompass English, Malayalam, Political Science, History, and Economics. Admission into these courses is by merit basis. Each stream has its specific intake of candidates, with B.A. English and Malayalam having 40 seats each; Political Science and History have 50 seats each, and Economics has 40 seats.

B.Sc. Programs: B.Sc. degrees are offered in Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Zoology, and Botany; these admissions are also based on merit. The intake for Physics, Chemistry, Zoology, and Botany is 32 for each subject, while Mathematics has 40.

B.Com Programs: B.Com and B.Com Co-operation programs are conducted by VTM NSS College. The admission procedure is according to merit, with an intake of 50 for B.Com Co-operation.

M.A. Programs: M.A.s in English, History, and Economics are offered. All admissions happen on merit: English and Economics have 15 seats while History has 12.

M.Com Program: M.Com at VTM NSS College has 15 seats and is based on merit for admissions.
