Younus College of Polytechnic, Kollam, is a self financing affiliated college with its campus in Thalachira Kollam and was started in the year 1991. This is an AICTE recognised institution offering four diploma courses in engineering fields. The college aimed to offer quality technical education to engineering aspirants with 36 faculty members in its team. It can be evidenced by the nature of infrastructures the institute boasts of and the offerings that are practical and inline with market trends. Younus College of Polytechnic has gained the trust of providing the basic knowledge in different engineering disciplines.

Younus College of Polytechnic prides in a variety of learning facilities aimed at supporting the needs of their students. The library which is one of the important resources among the academic facilities contains a huge number of books in different topics and genres. They have reading hall which can as many as two hundred students at a time, which makes it perfect for studying or researching. The college also houses two hostels for the college students: one for boys and the other for the girls with a maximum of two hundred students per hostel. These hostels offer accommodation with a serene environment, security assistance, entertainments, dining and kitchen services, health care services and praying place for the habitants. For the students travelling from Kollam and Punalur, the college runs two buses, to and fro, and the bus service has experienced drivers and off-timed frequent servicing by the Bus Committee.

Younus College of Polytechnic has four full-time diploma courses offered and they are all basically in the engineering discipline. It is a programme crafted to equip students with knowledge, which will allow  them to find solutions in their preferred area of specialisation. The total intake capacity at the college level is 240 and per course intake in each course is set at 60. The courses are Diploma in Electronics and Communication Engineering, Civil, Electrical and Electronics Engineering, and Computer Engineering.
