which is better *industrial design or *production engineer in NIT Rourkela??regarding placements and future scope!!
I would suggest you Production Engineering at NIT RKL.
Industrial Design is not much of an Engineering Subject, hence the dearth of opportunitues in an Engineering College like NIT Rourkela. Of course there are fair chances for going for a Masters degree in design in France or UK or perhaps at one of the IITs or National Institute of Design.
As far as Production Technology is concerned, it is one of the most student oriented branches with key aspects of Operations Management. There are core courses like Production and Inventory control and Operations Research while the non core courses taught include Optimization and Analytics. Most of the companies recruiting Mechanical Engineers mostly also open for Production Engineers and the average package lies anywhere between 5-7 LPA.
The major recruiters include Schlumberger, Udaan, Amazon, Flipkart, Tata Motors, Vedanta, ITC, Reliance, etc.

which is better production industrial engineering or only production engineering?from top NITs??
Hello,
Industrial and production engineering (IPE) is an interdisciplinary engineering discipline that includes the study of manufacturing technology, engineering sciences, management science, and optimization of complex processes, systems, or organizations. It is the application of engineering procedures in manufacturing processes and production methods.
The subjects for this course include:
Physics
Chemistry
Mechanics
Materials science
Computer science
Electronics circuits
Engineering design and mathematics
(Curriculum may differ with respect to universities)
The major job fields are: Industrial engineering, manufacturing engineering.
Production engineering involves just the manufacturing process and not the industrial level equipmentation. The subjects are almost same as production and industrial engineering but an additional graphics and designing comes to part.
The job opportunities are basically production engineer, process engineer, industrial manager etc..
To understand which is better is based on your skills and interests. Both are great courses and job opportunities are almost the same. If you are more interested in production and design based activities, choose production engineering. If you are more interested in Industrial manufacturing and business methods other than the production field, choose production industrial engineering.
Hope this was helpful
Should I join production and industrial engineering at IIT Roorkee or ECE at IIT Dhanbad? I am likely to get both.
Hello vibhor,
Hope you're doing well.
Both of these institutions are prestigious. It depends on the course you're opting for, whether it has a wider scope, your interests. I'll highlight some key points for both of these institutions:
- IIT Roorkee has a higher NIRF rank (6) as compared to Iit dhanbad (12)
- The average placement salary for btech is 14.5 for Roorkee and 8.5 for iit dhanbad.
- The fees is compatitively less at iit Roorkee.

which course should one take in ceg campus-manufacturing or industrial or geoinformatics for placements?
Hey!
As per reviews, it is suggested to join manufacturing from the courses you suggested above. However, college has good placements for civil, Cse and ECE. But college has very less placement opportunities for geo informatics and industrial but has decent placements for manufacturing with average salary as 3 lakhs per annum.
Hope I answered your query
Thank you
Which branch is good for future scope industrial engineering or civil engineering .
Hello. As per my research, civil engineering has a wide future scope. The most important factor is that there job is irreplaceable.
Incase of Industrial engineering, there job can be handled by electrical or mechanical people. So the job security is more in civil branch. And construction will always be a part of people worldwide.
Hope that helps!

Industrial engineering is which type of branch
Hello Rahul,
Industrial engineering is the branch of engineering that concerns the development, improvement, implementation and evaluation of integrated systems of people, knowledge, equipment, energy, material and process. Industrial engineering draws upon the principles and methods of engineering analysis and synthesis. It eliminates waste of time, money, materials, energy and other resources. Industrial Engineering is also known as Operations management, Production Engineering, or Manufacturing Engineering depending on the viewpoint or motives of the user. In lean manufacturing systems, Industrial engineers work to eliminate wastage of time, money, materials, energy, and other resources.
It specialises with:
- Supply Chain Engineering/Management
- Warehouse Management
- Logistics Engineering
- Lean Manufacturing/ Six Sigma
Can industrial engineering and management branch student learn coading and go to software company for job
1. Either to do a diploma in in computer, IT as a part-time Course.
2. Learn , practice and master the skills and join IT department in any software company as a trainee for getting experience in the field.
But personally I think that would be inappropriate as you wasted about 4-5 years of your life in working for another branch and then switching that branch suddenly will demand more time to get set in life further.
Also the pay you will be getting will be low in most of the cases.
I hope this helps and keeping in mind all the pros and cons of switching branch, you will take your decisions in future.
Regards and best of lucks.

Industrial engineering and management is core branch or not
Hello,
CORE BRANCHES OF ENGINEERING :
- Mechanical Engineering
- Civil Engineering
- Electrical Engineering
- Chemical Engineering
These form the base of Engineering and are eligible for Government jobs
90% Engineering problems are solved with the knowledge of core branches
Industrial Engineering and Management deals with developing, improving and implementing of integrated systems of people, money, knowledge, material and equipment
Industrial Engineering and Management is not a core branch
Hope it helps
