For a manufacturing engineering students in which paper (mechanical or production) should more opportunity for PSU job and private companies
Hey Sourav,
As Mechanical Engineering is the core branch you can shift to any of the sub braches in your specialization But Production engineering is a specialization subject of Mechanical engineering. if you are from mechanical engineering stream than apply GATE from Mechanical. As if you will get a general rank below 600 air than you will have an interview letter from very reputed PSU public sector unit and also you have an option for M.Tech from IITs. While if you will apply GATE from production stream than you have only 1 option i.e. Mtech. This is the best way also to get M.Tech in IITs. But if you are a production engineering graduate and you are going to apply for GATE than after getting a good rank you have either 2 or 3 PSU and M.Tech from a good institute.
Hope that helps all the best
How to know which PSU companies are allowing manufacturing engineering students they only noticed mechanical, electrical etc then how to know
Hi Sourav,
I understand your doubt regarding landing a job in the Maharatna, Navaratna, etc public sector undertaking companies as the companies only mention the common departments such as Electronics and Communications Engg, Electrical Engg, Mechanical Engg, Chemical Engg, etc for recruitment but fails to acknowledge the other not so common departments such as Production Engg properly.
Do know that other than the common branches most PSUs also consider recruitment for other departments such as Production Engg or Manufacturing Engg through GATE scores.
Some of the PSUs which consider Production Engg for recruitment through GATE are:
ONGC, IOCL, BPL, BHEL, NMDC, Railways, ICF, etc.
You can also consider visiting the official websites of the PSUs for detailed information.
BEST WISHES!

Which automobile companies are recruiting manufacturing engineering students.
Many automobile companies recruit manufacturing Engineering students. Since manufacturing Engineering is somewhat similar to mechanical engineering, students get a chance to sit for core companies. But your placements depend on the college you are studying in. So if you get a tier 1 or 2 college then companies like Maruti Suzuki, Honda 2 and 4 wheelers, Tata Motors etc visit their campuses.

Manufacturing engineering students can apply IOCL or ONGC .
Dear Sourav,
Sorry to inform you that in both IOCL or ONGC you can not apply for manufacturing engineering. As, per the given details I followed up from, and they are:
For IOCL:

Furthermore, there are many profound companies for you like:
Birla Power Solutions, CISCO, Burckhardt Compressor, and automobile industry, etc.
I hope that'll help you, Best of luck with your further career opportunities.
Scope of manufacturing engineering students in India and minimum salary.
Manufacturing Engineering is one of the streams of engineering which deals with various manufacturing processes (also on research and development process). Basically it's a collaboration of mechanical engineering, industrial engineering, electrical engineering, electronic engineering etc. Hiring Manufacturing engineering students is the major requirement and need for many of the companies dealing with various machines which turn raw material into a finished product. Definitely there is a scope, but starting salary package in many cases is not as much as other stream (CSE, ECE and etc) undergraduates . But still you can have a good career growth. Top recruiters are Birla power solutions, IBM, Electronics, health care etc. Designations you can grad include plant Engineer, process engineer etc.
Hope this helps
All the best !
