The minimum age requirement as per the UPSC CSE examination is that an aspirant must be of at least 21 years of age on or before August,1 of the appearing year. Now for the year 2024, you are turning 21 after 1st August,2024. So you aren't eligible for the UPSC CSE 2024. You are eligible for the examination from 2025 and onwards.

Hello!
The eligibility criteria for UPSC exam is mentioned below :
- Candidate must have completed graduation in any discipline.
- The required age of the applicant should be between 21 and 32 years, as on 1st August. For being eligibke for UPSC 2023 the candidate must have been born not earlier than 2nd August 1991 and not later than 1st August 2002.
- Aspirant should be a citizen of India and if they are migrated from other countries then they must have an eligibility certificate issued by the Government of India.
Thus, according to the eligibility criteria, you are not eligible for UPSC 2023. You can appear in UPSC 2024.
Hope this answers your query.
i am 22 years old and 2nd year bsc student, have been trying to crack neet since 3 years, 2023 will be my 4th attempt, should I go for mbbs if i qualify neet next year to become a doctor which would take 11-12 years or should I give UPSC, SSC etc government exams after completing Bsc ?
Hello aspirant,
Hope you are doing well!
See it really depends on your goal. If you wish to become a doctor then you should definitely go for MBBS. You have to set a goal in your mind to reach there.
My advice to you would be to go for MBBS if you qualify for neet which you have wanted from the very begining right. Lets invest 2-3 years more where you have already invested 4 years. So yoi should go for MBBS.
However, if you wish to go for UPSC or some other exam then it would also require some time. Its not gonna happen very quickly. But if you have the confidence in you that you can clear it in the first attempt then you should go for UPSC.
It all depends on the goal that you have in mind. Set a goal and work hard to approach that goal.
Hope my answer would help and if you have any further queries ask them in the comments section.

Is there any limitation to write psc, upsc and railway test if i study bsc industrial chemistry?? Can I take msc Chemistry after completing bsc industrial chemistry??
Dear Student,
First of all let’s see the eligibility criteria of the examination that you had mentioned.
Public service Commission- The fundamental eligibility requirements for each state's PSC test vary because each state in the US has a unique conducting body for its own state-level exam. You can verify the prerequisites for the state they are applying for on the official website.
In case of Kerala PSC - The applicants must be citizens of India and have a legal document proving their status as permanent residents of Kerala. According to the eligibility requirements for the Kerala PSC 10th Level Prelims, aspirants must have earned an SSLC or an equivalent degree.
UPSC - The UPSC does not judge applicants unfairly based on their degree test results. As a result, there is no required minimum qualifying percentage for IAS eligibility. The following list includes the UPSC's requirements for educational eligibility for the UPSC exam:
1.The applicant must be a graduate of a university with official recognition.
2.Candidates who are in their final year or who are awaiting results are also eligible to take the UPSC preliminary examination.
Railway test - Candidates who finished Class 10 at an institution accredited by NCVT/SCVT or one of its equivalents and who hold a National Apprenticeship Certificate (NAC) issued by NCVT/ITI degree are eligible to apply for the RRB Group D exam. For undergraduate positions, candidates applying to RRB NTPC must have completed Class 12; for graduate level positions, candidates must have completed graduation. Candidates for Assistant Loco Pilot must have completed Class 10 or SSLC Plus ITI, Act Apprenticeship Training, or have a diploma or degree in engineering. Candidates for the position of technician must have completed Act Apprenticeship training or Class 10 with Physics and Math, or have a diploma in engineering (As Applicable). Candidates for the RRB JE position must have earned their engineering diploma.
As you can see the eligibility criteria of the above examination, graduating with industrial chemistry will not hold you back from giving those examinations. You are eligible for all the exams you mentioned.
Next thing is if you can opt for masters in chemistry if you do Bsc in industrial chemistry. Now let’s see the eligibility criteria for masters of chemistry -
Applicants for the MSc in Chemistry programme must hold a bachelor's degree in science from an accredited institution of higher learning. To achieve the minimum requirements for admission to the MSc level, the candidate should essentially receive 50% to 60% grades at the graduation level.
So yes you are eligible to do masters in chemistry after completing Bsc in industrial chemistry.

Can I do GNM Nursing diploma course (regular) and BA by correspondence or distance at the same time? In future I want to appear for UPSC Exams and its eligibility is graduation but as GNM Nursing is a diploma course I wont be eligible? plz someone help me
Hi. Yes , you can pursue your diploma along with graduation simultaneously as per the new education programme rules. But , one has to be a distance-learning programme.
Thankyou.
My name is chanti Im currently studying b.a(sociology) and I have doubt Im now 164cm nearly (belong to sc category) am i eligible for ips . I googled it many times but I didnt found proper answer.
Hello,
You are only 1cm less than the required height in IPS post. The minimum height required for male candidates is 165cm( for all categories except ST) , for ST candidates the height required for male is 160cm. You are not much less than the required height, try doing some exercises to maintain your height at that level. You will be eligible for that. Don't worry.
All the best
Is it really important to select physics as my optional paper for upsc if Ive graduated in it, cause I dont want to since Im not so good at it?
Hello,
Look, you wouldn't want to take a chance with an optional course that has 500 marks since they may have an impact on your grade.
In response to the question, you can select whatever subject you choose as long as you are either skilled in it or are interested in it. Only your curiosity will ultimately be able to carry you through. Each and every mark will be crucial in this war of markings. Nobody is going to question you about why you didn't select your graduation subject. Many students pick their elective courses each year based on personal preference rather than academic merit.
So simply calm and choose a subject that you are knowledgeable in.
Good Luck!!
my DOB is 18 JULY 2003, I am eligible for upsc cse 2024 Exam?
Hello,
As per your date of birth you will attain 21 years as on 18th July 2024, hence you can appear for UPSC 2024 only if you have passed graduation in any discipline from a recognized university or you will have to be in the final year of graduation provided you should be able to show the proof of passing the qualifying examination within the stipulated time as mentioned by the officials,
To brief you regarding this, UPSC Civil Service Exam consists of three stages-
Preliminary : First Stage is MCQs based exam, it has two papers and each one consists of 200 marks, its numbers ain't added to final list, you just need to score the required cut offs against your category.
First is GS Paper-I which consists of the topics such as History of India and Indian national movement, Indian and World geography, Economic and social development- sustainable development, poverty, inclusion demographics, social sector initiatives etc,Indian polity and governance-constitution,political system,Current Events nationally and Internationally, General Science,General Issues on environmental ecology, biodiversity and climate change. you just need to score the required cut offs against your category.
Second Paper is CSAT which is qualifying by nature, you need to score merely 33% which is 66 marks out of 200, it includes following topics such as basic numeracy, comprehension, logical reasoning and analytical ability, general mental ability, decision making and problem solving, interpersonal skills including communication skills.

Nursing as a subject isn't included in the list of optional, the syllabus of any optional subject is based on graduation level, hence your interest matters a lot here, also availability of study materials, the level of the syllabus as in how vast it is etc, so you can consider these factors when selecting your optional subject, there is no such thing as choosing one will make you score more, it's always about how well you have written the paper, your knowledge and having a good hold over the subject matters, so consider these parameter prior to deciding upon any subject as optional in upsc.
