I hope you are safe and healthy.

Yes, It is compulsory to pass in all the subjects in the CBSE class 12th board examination. However, if you fail in your additional subject, it will not affect your overall percentage. But, here comes the catch, during percentage calculation, the best 5 marks are considered. But, A language subject such as English is necessary. It can’t be replaced. So, basically it is : A language subject + 4 other best scored subjects (out of 5) of yours are taken into consideration for percentage calculation.
