Your percentile is an indication of the number of people you are ahead of. 40th percentile means that you have crossed 40 % of people who have attended the JIPMER exam.
Since percentile is calculated based on your performance as compared with others so it is not possible to tell the marks based on your percentile.

It is a percentage of scores in its frequency distribution that are equal to or lower than it
For example if you have NEET Score 400 and your percentile score is 57, then it means 43% of the candidates have scored better than you.
