A point charge +10 is a distance 5 cm directly above the centre of a square of side 10 cm, as shown in Figure. What is the magnitude of the electric flux through the square?

Given data,

q= 10 μC

side of the square=10cm

We can consider square as one of the side of a cube

According to Gauss’s theorem for a cube, total electric flux is through all its six faces.

Electric Flux through one face of the cube can be formulated as,

1/6*q/ Eo

where Eo=Permitivity of the free space

on substituting the data in the above formula,we get

Electric flux=1.88*10^5 N m^2/C
