Correct Answer: 525 metres
Solution : Given: The speed of the thief is 7 km/h and that of the policeman is 9 km/h. At a distance of 150 metres, the policeman spots the thief. We know that, Distance = Speed × Time. Relative speed is given as 9 km/h – 7 km/h = 2 km/h Time taken by police to catch the thief = $ \frac{150}{2 \times\frac{5}{18}} =270$ seconds Total distance covered by thief before the overtaken = $270 \times 7 \times \frac{5}{18}$ = 525 metres Hence, the correct answer is 525 metres.
