Here on your doubt I want to tell you the minimum eligibility criteria for UPSC CSE is that you must have an undergraduate degree from any recognised University and the most important thing is that UPSC doesn't ask for the stream of graduation.It welcomes every candidate,doesn't matter from where and in which stream they are and completed their graduation.

So to become an IAS officer you must have to clear UPSC CSE and for that you must have an undergraduate degree from any recognised University and for that you can do whatever you want and in whichever you feel interested.

So to start your preparation you just enter your first year of college and do to preparation according to the latest syllabus of UPSC CSE.

Hope you are doing well! After your 12th standard ,for becoming an IAS officer firstly you need to finish your graduation degree only then you will be eligible for your upsc exam ,for this you need to choose subjects in graduation which also helps you in upsc journey like political science, economics, geography, history etc ,these are such subjects which help you in preparing for exam . Also plan your schedule daily ,from 2nd year of your graduation start your preparation and also see topper interview for better results because it is better to learn from someone's mistake ,so they will help you surely ! Also while preparing attempt at least 15 previous year paper and mock tests on daily basis , beleive me it will help you a lot!

• In order to become an IAS officer the very first step is to complete your graduation, this means that one can't directly become IAS officer directly after 12th . You may go for a bachelor's degree in Bsc , Bcom or BA . Also subject with history, geography, political science , economics can be taken to have a basic background and knowledge.

• So the basic eligibility is to be graduate from a recognised University or institute which means 21 years of age is minimum to appear for this examination. So, you may  pursue any course in which you are interested, however it would be better to get admission in top colleges of Delhi University. A professional course may also be done. You may start reading newspapers to gain knowledge and it's good to get an overview of syllabus and marking scheme.

• To become an IAS officer it is necessary to crack UPSC CSE examination.

It does not matter what course you take for your graduation  UPSC CSE exam is for students of any graduate from a government recognized college.

You can choose course of your interest and preferably the one which you can take as your optional for example if you like   Mathematics and want is as your optional you can choose BSc Mathematics(Hons) for your graduation , many arts(BA) course will help you in your Optional as well as in your prelims and GS papers for BA History (hons).

You can also choose a college or University where you will find a lot of UPSC aspirants for example Delhi University , BHU ,JNU etc.

You should also start your UPSC preparation as soon as possible.

You should read more about the civil services and get enrolled in a graduation course that involves History and politics. If you plan to do masters then you can also choose one of these as optional subjects. While planning your graduation please keep the UPSC syllabus in mind so that you can master these subject well. Start reading books on economics, public administration, and basic maths. If you want to you can study this subject as your main subjects. Search about IAS exam pattern and make a study plan. Make a habit of reading the newspaper daily and keep yourself updated with the current happening in the country as well outside the country. Be well versed with the syllabus and start taking notes. Practice previous years IAS question papers.

Now regarding your question, I would say there is no such subject which can ensure your chances more. See UPSC is an examination which requires a special attention that is to get a job through UPSC you need to study specifically as per the UPSC syllabus. Thus there are no options available that can ensure you more about the selection. I would recommend you that you should take the subject you like the most. This is a very important point because if you take the subject you like then while studying it you will not feel bored or get exhausted. This will help you to study your BSc subject as well as your preparation for UPSC. So take the subject you like the most.

Now you can take some subjects which are in your UPSC syllabus like BSc Geography, Economics. But I assure you that the things you will learn in BSc will not be needed exactly in your UPSC preparation. Instead you will find that foundational knowledge to the subject is important. This is the reason why I stated that you should pursue the subject you like and keep a focused plan for your UPSC preparation.
