You know what, engineers are overflowing in India, irrespective of whatever branch u choose  , u have to work hard to be an exception. If u r excellent at something , u will get a high paying job, but if u r average choose any branch that u like , u will easily get a job in an IT company and join the herd.

IN SHORT:- choose only that branch that attracts u , don't think about placements or salary, u will regret it later.

Each branch has it's own importance and scope......no one can predict which branch will be best for placements after 4 years......because there will be a dip in placements of cse and it branch...but mechanical, electrical, civil are evergreen branches......so choose any branch according to your interest and passion....best of luck!

Dear Prakash

We cannot tell that the following branches would be in high position in future, but we can predict.

These are the best options:

  • Environmental engineering
  • Chemical Engineering
  • structural engineering
  • Cs and IT
Choose anyone but based on your passion.

All the best.

The one in which you have interest . Please stop comparing branches on their placements . I have seen people in chemical , mechanical get 50 lpa package . If you have interest in your branch no one can stop you in achieving anything. Just be confident and always select a branch based on your interests and not just placements point of view. If you want to know more , I had be happy to help.

Each branch has its own speciality, and a phase where there is a dip in jobs. Nowadays CS and IT are going through that phase. Electrical and mechanical are as evergreen, you can try petroleum engineering too. Hope it helps.
