hi,

IAS exam stands for Indian administrative services, which is one of the prestigious role in government service of India. IAS exam previously known as  Imperial Civil Service (ICS) is the Civil Services Examination which is considered  one of the toughest competitive exams in India for government services. It was awarded as IAS January 26, 1950 (as Indian Administrative Service). Every year IAS exams conducts by UPSC (union public service commission).

eligibility criteria for appearing in IAS Exam,

EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Candidate must hold a Bachelor's Degree in any discipline  from any recognized universities.
  • Candidates who have appeared for the qualifying examination and are awaiting results i.e who are in final year are also eligible for the Preliminary Examination. Such applicants need to  produce proof of passing the examination along with the application for the Main Examination.
  • Candidates who have professional and technical qualifications recognized by the Government or its equivalent  institutions are also eligible to apply.
  • Applicants  who have passed the final year of MBBS or any Medical Examination but are yet to complete the internship can also appear for the Main Examination. However, they must submit a certificate from the concerned University that they have passed the final professional medical examination

nationality criteria:

  • Candidate must be a citizen of India or  must be a citizen of Nepal or a subject of Bhutan
  • Candidate must be a Tibetan Refugee who came to India before January 1, 1962, to be settled permanently in India.
  • Candidate must be person of Indian Origin who has migrated from Ethiopia, Kenya, Malawi, Myanmar, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Tanzania, Uganda, Vietnam, Zaire, or Zambia with an intention of permanently residing  in India

Age limit:

As For IAS 2020,A candidate should be a minimum of 21 years and maximum 32 years old as on August 01, 2020. But he/she must have been born not earlier than August 02, 1988 and not later than August 01, 1999. relaxation of age limit is given to reserved category candidates,

5 Years - Scheduled Caste/ Scheduled Tribe (SC/ST)

3 Years - Other Backward Classes (OBC)

3 Years - Defence Services personnel

5 Years - ex-servicemen including Commissioned Officers and ECOs/SSCOs who have rendered at least 5 years Military Service as on August 01, 2020.

10 Years - PWD candidates.

To become an IAS officer you need to clear UPSC CSE examination , eligibility  criteria for the same is given below:-

You must have a bachelor's degree in any discipline from a recognised university

*Minimum age limit :-  21 years

*Maximum age limit :-  32 years

So , to be eligible for UPSC or the IAS examination there is no compulsion to be a graduate in a particular subject, all you need to be eligible is that you should be a graduate in any discipline . So , you are definitely eligible for UPSC CSE examination after BSc and after qualifying it you can be an IAS officer as well

Yes, you can apply for UPSC Civil Service Examination with your BSc Degree.

Eligibility Criteria for UPSC is passed/appearing graduation in any discipline from a recognized university. There's no specific aggregate required in this case, candidates need to attain 21 years age.

This exam is divided into three stages as follows;

Preliminary which consists of two papers, General Studies I and CSAT, each of 200 marks. Out of this, CSAT is qualifying paper and candidates need to attain 33% that is only 66 marks and for GS candidates need to score required cut-off against their category.

Mains consists of four General Studies Paper, Two Optionals, One Essay, Two Language Paper, so there are total nine paper, each of 250 marks, total marks in Mains is 1750 marks.

Third stage is Personality Test which consists of 275 marks.
