Dear Candidate,

Anthracene is a solid polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbon of formula C14H10 consisting of three fused benzene rings. When its oxidation with chromic acid is done, it yields Anthraquinone.

Anthraquinone is basically used in  the manufacture of dyes, in the textile and pulp industries, and as a bird repellant.

Hope this helps.
