Are Msc. environmental sciences post graduates eligible for UPSC geoscientist exam? Earth sciences is mentioned in the eligibility criteria but environmental sciences is not.

Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) administers a Combined Geo-Scientist and Geologist Examination (CGGE) for hiring and a nomination for the job of Geologist, Geophysicist and Chemist Group 'A' in Geological Survey of India and Junior Hydro-geologist (Scientist 'B'), Group 'A' for Central Ground Water Board.
Suitability norms
Geologists Gr ‘A’
- Masters Degree holder in subjects like Geological Science or Geology or Geo-Exploration or Mineral Exploration or Engineering Geology or Marine Geology or Earth Science and Resource management Management and Coastal Areas Studies or Petroleum Geosciences or Petroleum Exploration or Geochemistry or Geological Technology from UGC identified university.
For Geophysicists Gr ‘A’
- Masters Degree holder in subjects like Physics or Applied Physics or Geophysics or Integrated M.Sc. Exploration Geophysics or Applied Geophysics or Marine Geophysics or M.Sc (Tech.) Applied Geophysics from a UGC-identified institution.
For Chemists Gr ‘A’
- Masters degree holder in Chemistry or Applied Chemistry or Analytical Chemistry from UGC identified institution.
For Junior Hydrogeologists (Scientist-B) Group ‘A’
- M.Sc degree in Geology or Applied Geology or Marine Geology or Hydrogeology from a UGC-identified institution.
M.Sc Environmental Science degree holders are not eligible for this exam.
