Bile juices not contain any Digestive enzymes but it is important role in digestion why?
Hello,
Bile juice is responsible for absorption of fats. It most absorbs the fat soluble elements like Vitamins. It helps in excretion process by eliminating harmful substances.
The main significance of Bile juice is Emulsification of fats. Normally gastric juice are acidic in nature due to HCL and bile juice is responsible to make it slightly alkaline before it enters to small intestine.
Hope it helps!
Hi Dipak
Bile juice has no digestive enzymes, but yet bile juice is important for digestion because of few reasons which are listed below :-
- Bile juice has bile salts such as bilirubin and biliverdin ,these salts bring about emulsification of fats which are later digested by intestinal lipases i.e these salts break down large fat globules into smaller globules so that the pancreatic enzymes can easily act on them . Thus, bile juice help in the emulsification of fats
- Bile juice is alkaline in nature so it makes the food alkaline so that pancreatic enzymes can act on it as it requires alkaline or basic medium and intestinal enzymes in the small intestine.
So, you can see that it plays an important role in digestion even though it does not have any enzymes.
I hope that you find this helpful :-)
Thankyou
