Hello student,

1 mole of CO will have 1 mole oxygen atoms.

Let us take some other examples :

1 mole CO2 has 2 moles of oxygen

1 mole N2O5 has 2 moles of Nitrogen and 5 moles of oxygen atom

So we can use the general formula which is - For a compound with the formula XnYm , If Z moles  of XnYm are given then

  • Number of mole of X = Z*n
  • Number moles of Y = Z*m

Therefore 5 moles of CO( m=1 ,n=1 ) has 5 moles of Oxygen atom
